2 hours til tip off...

My two keys to the game are to 1) stay out of foul trouble and 2) keep the foot on the gas at the end of the 1st half.

If Joel and/or Isaiah get into foul trouble early that'll really limit us. And we've had a knack for getting up big in the 1st half - only to watch the lead wither to a possession or two by the break. This is primarily attributed to the head scratching lineups that get trotted out there for the last few minutes of the half - but the players need to play with some purpose during that time as well.

If we have a moment where Joel, Justin, and Kennedy are all on the bench at the same time, I'm going to lose it.

Yeah, if we are fortunate enough to build another big lead, Roy has to go for the kill. I said at the time those two acc toruney games where we blew the leads mostly because of horrid lineups and rotations coming out of nowhere was a very very bad precedent to be setting for a team heading into the tournament.

I second both of these. Our bigs, and Berry, absolutely can not afford to be in foul trouble. If we go up by double digits early it NEEDS to be double digits at half time. Also, whoever has the hot hand down low between Kennedy and Isaiah needs to get touches ALL game.

My key to the game: guard the freaking perimeter. Don't help on the driver, the help shouldn't be needed as we have the size advantage. Don't give open 3's or it'll be a long night.

Second key: control tempo. They will try to slow us down. Run the break and secondary break at every opportunity.

We need to absolutely abuse them on the glass. We're #1 in the country with 43.8 rebounds per game - Butler is #327 out of 351 D-1 teams in rebounding at 32.0 RPG. We need to exploit that. Shooting 3's and letting our bigs grab the rebounds for put-backs (if the shots are missed) could be a fairly decent offensive strategy against these guys.

agree...if this doesn't happen we might get sucked into a slower pace...that's what they do, not us.

Speaking of guarding the 3 ball - we need to keep an eye on Avery Woodson. He only averages 9ppg - but it looks like he's primarily a 3pt specialist (has hit 73 3pt FGs this year out of 100 total FGs hit - so almost 3/4 of his shots are 3's). He hits them at 43%. That's the rando-type player that will decide to have a career game from deep if we leave him open.

I'd really love to see berry take the ball to the rim strong like he was earlier in this season. Really attack these guys-butler in the past has taken the fight to us.This team is totally different when he's able to add that to his game along with the 3 ball.

I disagree with the poasters about the substitutions. How do you develop talent? You get them in the game and give them PT. Look at K's way of developing talent, he lets them ride the pine and then when he needs them they are not ready. I prefer the Carolina way started by Dean where you develop a deep bench by recruiting top talent and getting them some minutes.

Develop talent for two minutes in key tournament games to close out halves? Totally disagree.

don't do that...open mind, go into game with.
