OF Donavan Tate: The third overall pick the year the Angels took Mike Trout in the first round, the 24-year-old Tate returns for his second pass at the California League after sitting out all of 2014. Injuries and off-the-field ssues have derailed his career to this point.

Shame...two failed drug tests, two stints in rehab. hope he did something smart with at least some of the Padres $6m signing bonus.

I know UNC verbal was simply a negotiating tool, but couple of years in college might have done the kid some good.

Rehab for synthetic marijuana... That's absolutely laughable.

If the real (and much safer) thing were legal, people wouldn't be messing with that stuff anyways. And they sure as hell wouldn't need rehab.

Or he might have hit Chapel Hill and partied hearty and gotten busted. The odds are great that he was doping a lot in HS - it almost never starts after HS graduation.
