NCAA has lost the right to enforce any rules on name, image and likeness compensation for student-athletes. Nice to hear that the NCAA will never be what they once were.

They've never been what they once were. People just liked to be wilfully ignorant about it. It was obvious after the O'Bannon case this stuff was going to happen. The NCAA chose to ignore it instead of preparing for it.

Good. The only thing that's changing is the payments are over the table now instead of under it. Much better for all involved, especially the players.

NIL is mostly between the players and private business entities. the ncaa and the schools are merely a liaison between the two with no significant role -- ergo no enforcement power.

Doubt this ruling will have a practical effect because it is happening already anyway.

There is a lot of things to consider. What happens to the NCAA Tournament's 68 team format if conferences bolt?

Is this a losing battle for the NCAA? There are inducements to regular students every day for academic performance in terms of research grants and scholarships. Should student-athletes be any different?

Everyone should do what's best for themselves, but that includes fans who invest time and resources into the mix.
