Yeah, but Haase's boys helped out a bit by beating the Fighting Hurleys.I was hoping Michigan would continue their winning streak, but they got blown out at Nebraska last night.
I don't really get why you hate on metrics but reference the worst advanced team metric available. RPI is terrible for prediction and mediocre for retrodiction.
Alright, enough of this crap from you.I don't really get why you hate on metrics but reference the worst advanced team metric available. RPI is terrible for prediction and mediocre for retrodiction.
Basketball's a great game, ain't it?I just like watching basketball. I don’t really need to over analyze stats and whatnot. We’ll either win the championship or we won’t. I don’t really care what some statistical formula tells me about our chances. I don’t really care what so and so’s usage rate is and I don’t put all that much stock in projecting how player X will shoot 3s in the future based on his middle school layup success rate. I just like watching basketball and I’m capable of making my own conclusions without having some numbers tell me what to think.
Alright, enough of this crap from you.
1. I don't "hate on" metrics. I just have sense enough (as well as the basketball and mathematical background) to understand what actually means anything.
2. I'm not holding up RPI as anything other than it is --- something the NCAA utilizes come tourney time.
And last but not least,
3. I posted this thread for a FYI, but also as a little shot at those obsessed with their all-knowing "metrics". Apparently that flew right past ya, Einstein.
Nice try. He, and now you, are the ones being jerks. And in your (thankfully) short time here, that seems to be par for the course. Why do you get so defensive? He just said it's not a very meaningful metric and then you have to turn around and be a jerk about it lol

Oh, and again, RPI is well-known to be flawed (duh), but fact is it affects seeding in March, so that in and of itself makes it more "meaningful" than most anything in that massive belch of spurious numbers being thrown around in other threads.
Giving back what I get, bubba. And let's get real, you've been on here under this handle for like 2 weeks and pretty much all you've done is be a jerk or stir sh**.I'm being a jerk because I called you out for it? Lol ok man. You start off by saying "Alright, enough of this crap from you". You then make your point and then have to add a snarky comment in saying, "Apparently that flew right past ya, Einstein". But that's not being a jerk?

I smell troll.
How have I been a jerk lol?
mm hmm. You just outed yourself. How have I been a jerk lol? You're just getting defensive since i'm one of the few who is calling you out for acting above everyone else on here.

We are going to lose 9 or 10 games this year. I doubt you would have accepted a loss to Wofford. If you'd have asked me preseason if I'd take 15-4 at this point, having lost to MSU, Wofford, FSU and UVA on the road, I'd have said hell yes! Of course, I'm the guy that said we may lose 9-10 games this year too. I love where we're sitting right now, Wofford being the only unexpected loss. We're only going to get better. Enjoy the ride.
I'm interested in hearing where you guys thought we'd be at this point in the season.
It's not a matter of not accepting the loss to Wofford, we have no choice. And yes, it was a game I thought we'd win. HST, they are 14-5 and 4-1 in their conference. Two of their wins are against ACC teams and they continue to lead the nation in 3P%. So they're not chopped liver. We are going to lose 9 or 10 games this year. I doubt you would have accepted a loss to Wofford.
Undoubtedly. But we have a first rate coach and a great group of young men who trust him explicitly. We will continue to grow over the next two months. Right now, I'm very content with where we're sitting.I am hoping for a good path and our better side shows up in the tourney so we can make some noise. We got flaws we definitely have to hide.

Or one of the big freshmen steps his game up another couple of notches. I see promising signs from Sterling. But I basically agree.I figured 6-8 conf losses despite the optimism in here. Wofford was only loss i didnt expect. So no surprises for me. I dont see us making elite 8 in tourney unless we get some breaks with the bracket.
This is a rude response. Attack the argument, not the person.Alright, enough of this crap from you.

I'll disagree here. The best team in the country by a mile I believe lost at home to Santa Clara in 2009. Shit happens. This this 100% spot on it happens all the time but he don't get it, every person that doesn't agree with him is a troll and a lesser fan.
And heaven forbid you question a players action or a coaching decision you are a closet Dookie!
On the subject at hand we are not #2 or #1 in anything nationally, and that is from watching with my eyes!
All jokes aside the #2 team in the country dont lose to Wofford at home and I don't care how many computers you use to tell who is the best!
I'll disagree here. The best team in the country by a mile I believe lost at home to Santa Clara in 2009. Shit happens.
Edit: I am an idiot. It was 2005 and away versus Santa Clara. Oops...

Mercer or Lehigh ring a bell?
Yep, although that advice would be better directed at those who actually initiate. There's a difference between attack and counter-attack.@gary-7 man that's some really good advice from a fellow Tar Heel.
Come on now! You give it some with no attack present Gary. Yes, you do get poked, but dont stoop to that level. Takes 2 to have an argument, dont be such a willing partner.Yep, although that advice would be better directed at those who actually initiate. There's a difference between attack and counter-attack.
Perhaps a little clean-up on aisle-3 would be in order before addressing the one that got spilled on. If not? Then it's not particularly useful to even bring it up. And with that, let's put this to rest.Come on now! You give it some with no attack present Gary. Yes, you do get poked, but dont stoop to that level. I'll put it to rest when you realize you have some blame here too.Perhaps a little clean-up on aisle-3 would be in order before addressing the one that got spilled on. If not? Then it's not particularly useful to even bring it up. And with that, let's put this to rest.
