Watching Belichik's UW D in the Sun Bowl and he runs a 4-2-5 D.

I prefer we get back to a normal 4 DLmen scheme with their focus blowing up the LOS and getting whoever is running or throwing the ball. Let the 2 LBs and 5 DBs deal with the receivers, and send the LBs and/or DBs on blitzes on time to time.

Give me Peppers over Mack's 2.0 Rush OLB.

Before this season as the Washington DC, he said his scheme will fit the players they have. I’d say it worked pretty well as he took over a defense ranked near 100 and made them into a top 25 defense in just a year.

So big question is what he will be working with?

There are a number of younger DL players that didn't play much behind a veteran DL who has largely moved on. Anyone have a clue how good those guys are?

Atkinson is back and to me, pretty solid. CJ Mims, transfer, looks like he may be good inside. Have an Edge transfer highly spoken of. A good LB transfer and maybe he current back-up guys are good there.

But still seems like we need a couple of particular DTs to play inside.

Tedy Bruschi said BB did not care what a player could not do but what he could do well. I expect BB and his son will find minutes for many of the back-ups in spot minutes being it a for a pass rush or goal line stand.

Atkinson is a starter at SDE that is for sure, backed up by the Delaware transfer and likely TN transfer this weekend. Shaw if he comes back is likely a DT starter unless he does not give an effort. Thompson/Hamrick will battle for the WDE job. So the last DT position is up for grabs and likely the transfer Mims. From there BB will fit back-ups into spots where they can do what they do well.

Ask me in August as they will continue to add more players the next several months. Regardless, I expect whomever plays to play sound and physical.
