4 Star TE flips to Carolina

Welcome Mr. Walston!

Not entirely surprising. I was a little shocked he picked UGA after seeing the depth they've recruited at the position over the last few years, which includes three 4-star recruits and another 3-star (per Rivals). I'd like to believe our offense is more fun for a TE to play in, anyway. :)

I am happy for you guys. Being a Dawg here living in Asheville, UNC is easy to root for.

Nauta (5-star) gave a silent commitment to the UGA Staff and now you see the pieces falling into place. Walston will be a great player for UNC, but to your point the depth chart tilts in UNC's favor here and he made the smart move.

Classy post. I attended UGA for a year before transferring to Carolina. I like seeing both do well. I'm very excited for our matchup to kick off next season.

If we win, the anti-Richt crowd will bring out the longest and sharpest knives.

The knives are already out, brother. I listen to Atlanta sports talk radio everyday. UGA's fanbase, for the most part, is fed up with Richt.

Should be an interesting matchup though as both schools will have a bit of a QB controversy on their hands to start the season. I just hope at least 25,000 Carolina fans show up so it isn't ALL Dawg fans.

Richt is what he is...a great man and an above average Coach. If you want to be in the SEC hunt each year and the playoff he is not the man for the job. NFL rosters are littered with our former players and he hasn't won the SEC in 10 years. Inexcusable.

There is a subset of our fan base that puts Richt above the school/program. They make excuse after excuse for him and our devoutly loyal to him. If John Cooper had the same going for him he still may be at Ohio State.

And to think Richt could be donning Carolina blue and roaming the Kenan Stadium sidelines instead of in Athens. Just one of many things that link UGA and UNC together. Very similar universities and history. Would love to revamp the Georgia - Carolina rivalry of old...

Agreed on your post THN. Is it me or my imagination, as it ties in to Fishwater's comments above, it sure seems UGa is full of promise to start most recent seasons and Richt just doesn't seem to get them over the hump...not that the Heels have anything to brag about in our last few seasons but given the SEC I can understand why some folks have the sharpeners out...love the old programs posted above.

Anti-Richt Dawgs point to the facts that while Richt has been in Athens, Auburn has 1 National title, Florida has 2, and Bama has seemingly a half dozen. That's just schools in border states.

Then they point to his 2nd team as being his best - all the way back in 2002, after which they note that his 2nd and last SEC championship was in 2005.

Richt is the 2nd best coach in UGA history. But when UGA's rivals win bigger, UGA's fans are going to want more.

Why is he being called a 4 star in this thread? Every ranking worth a darn has him as a 3 star.

When one service , any service say "Better Homes and Garden" ranks a guy as a 4* then he will be called a 4 from then on even though 25 others rank him as a 3.
