If I had posted this at THR I would have received far too much crap for it. The dook angle alone would have killed me. But I still think it's a fun idea. I, like the rest of you, can't stand our neighbors in Durham and there are more than a few that I hated, but also a few I couldn't wait to see them leave.
So here's my top. And keep in mind I'm only 22 so the rivalry really didn't become big for me until the mid 2000s.
1. JJ Redick- Easy number one for me. Couldn't stand this prick. He was arrogant, cocky, and everything you hated in a white Duke player. I give him credit for becoming a more versatile player in the NBA, but in college all he ever did was shoot the damn three and nothing else. And yet he put up ridiculous numbers and was hyped by ESPN. Spoiling his senior night remains one of my fondest memories.
2. Jon Scheyer- Another in the long line of annoying dook players. But the funny part was the hilarious faces he used to to make when captured in a freeze frame or photo. He also was a decent player and won a natty which is always a downside.
3. Austin Rivers- That shot will always make my blood boil, period. F**k him. On the other hand, he was a real chemistry issue for them so maybe if he had stayed longer they would've been upset in the first round a couple more times.
4. Nolan Smith- I didn't hate this player, because I went to Oak Hill and everyone talked about what an upstanding guy he was. But man, he was effective in almost every facet of the game. Was glad to see him go.
5. Tyus Jones- Most dook OADs never give me enough reason to hate them or they don't stay long enough. Tyus always had a cocky vibe, and without him, we split against them because we should have won that game. Instead we lost 92-90 in OT and I was so pissed off after that game.
And that sums it up for me. I'm sure some of my older fellow Heel fans have much more to choose from.
