8th grader graduation speech

He's cute and funny! Nails most of them anyway! LOL Maybe a future comedian! ;)

Coolwater- he is giving it for graduating into high school... you know they have to give kids ceremonies, recognition and awards for pissing directly in the toilet these days lol
I thought PCers and Libs love that. My wife gives me recognition when I don't piss directly in the toilet.

okay smart butt, you calling me a PCer??? LOL I may teeter to the liberal side on most things other than guns and abortion but dangit! I am not PC! :p;):)

Yeah, I think the pissing in the toilet thing is def a woman's pet peeve! eeeeeeee
teeter? I think you are looking at teetering in the rear view mirror.

Abortion is pretty much the one thing that I lean liberal on, so I guess the opposite of you, haha

Me too - kind of.

I'm for abortion in those circumstances of rape, incest, yada, yada, yada. What I'm not for is that it reinforces irresponsibility. But even in those cases, the way I rationalize it in my own head is that it most likely means that's one less person I'd end up having to help support.

Well, I am kind of not completely on the conservative side either though. I do believe it is killing a baby but I am not buying into that "it's a woman's body and she can do what she wants with it" either. When I was in my early 20s I was all about that argument that it was my body, my decision thing but then I got pregnant and I toyed with the idea of having an abortion because I was in college and did not think I was "ready." Then I ended up having a spontaneous abortion at home and without going into the gory details, when it came out and I picked it up, I realized that I was thinking about killing a baby. I do not think abortion should be an option for birth control. I would love it if people could figure out a way to simply prevent an unwanted pregnancy to begin with and actually do that if you KNOW you are not ready for a child.

BUT I am also not so naive to think that making abortion illegal is the answer either. I know it will create more problems and more unwanted babies being tossed in the trash or the woods/creeks, so I personally would just like the language adjusted so women and the guys who encourage them to get one, realize what they are actually doing. Stop saying "I want to abort a fetus" and instead be very direct and to the point with "I want to end the life of my baby." I think the language used is part of what makes it not seem real to most people. Reality is you are killing a baby because you could not keep your sh*t together and be responsible.

I get so frustrated because I type medical reports and I literally hear the most unimaginable "stories" every single day. I am amazed at the people who have more than 5 abortions. I had one patient, she was only 23 and already had 7 kids born and 21 abortions... I have no idea how that is possible but apparently if you start at age 10, it can happen. The number of people with STDs and HIV/AIDS is startling and you think it is mostly homosexuals??????? think again... the majority are women (usually married) and single heterosexuals who are very promiscuous.

crazy world!

re: abortion, I'm on the common sense side.

I.E. common sense dictates the GOP should stop making abortion such a central, important fuggin issue among their candidates. STOP emphasizing abortion. Stop it. There are so many more important issues facing this nation like the economy and foreign policy. Stop pandering to the "religious right" (I hate that moniker but y'all know what I mean when I use it) by constantly making abortion and gay marriage the focal points of the GOP party. It's a great way to turn off voters and ruin otherwise solid candidates' campaigns / electability.

You are absolutely correct on that one! What's even crazier is that when you actually ask a GOP candidate or any republican in office already what they are going to do about it, they tell you that it has already been decided and there is no need to bring it back up, yet they go to debates and state how "wrong" it is.... THAT is just to get votes. They have the Christian right so snowed on it and they really believe they MUST vote for a R because of that alone.

No, it's the opposite. Solid Republican candidates will LOSE some of the religious right vote if they don't go out of their way to declare how much they support pro-life policy. The religious right will vote for some weirdo also-ran candidate who is super anti-abortion.

Well, I know for a fact that Mitt Romney said he would not do anything about it when he was running and when I was helping with the Ron Paul Campaign even he, being a OB doctor, said to me that they will never over turn that, it is just a way to manipulate people... you know, kind of like the way the media does! hehe

I'm of the belief that it doesn't become a human baby until it's born - it doesn't breath, can't live on it's own, etc. until it's born. But, I wouldn't really argue with someone that says it becomes a human baby once it gets a heartbeat. For a lot of them it's due to irresponsibility that they got pregnant, but for some others it was by accident when they were taking steps to be responsible (condom breaks, birth control fails, etc.). Also, I don't know how often this happens, but I think it would be a good reason to have an abortion - if a woman gets pregnant and then finds her husband (or whatever the baby daddy is) cheating on her, or for some other reason gets a divorce (or maybe the Dad dies or something) and the woman wants to prevent the would-be-kid from being fatherless.

The main reason I feel like it should be up to the parents if they get an abortion, is that if it wasn't for them the would-be-baby wouldn't have even become a fetus. They should then have the option to reverse their actions before the kid is born - for pretty much any reason they want.

ehhhhhh... that is a tough one for me... I raised my twins alone because my husband did not want kids and became abusive so I kicked him to the curb. I knew it would be hard but I knew I could do it and would be better off and did not want to risk him hurting the babies... of course he did not pay one red cent to help either... but whatever. So if that is the reason, I would hope people would just give it a little more thought. It is not impossible to raise kids alone and be successful in doing so without relying on a handout either.

I do completely understand though the thought of not wanting a baby because it is not a good time or whatever because I was faced with that before I married and was in college and then once that baby came out in the floor, it hit me what I was thinking of doing and I realized that I was not seeing things as they really are. I have a hard time thinking of a fetus as anything else other than a child now.

I don't hate or judge people that choose to do that. In fact, I know a few who have. I am just saying I couldn't and I just wish women would just really think before they do it. My best girlfriend in college rushed to do it and then for months afterwards was tormented with the reality of what she had done.

"The main reason I feel like it should be up to the parents if they get an abortion, is that if it wasn't for them the would-be-baby wouldn't have even become a fetus. They should then have the option to reverse their actions before the kid is born - for pretty much any reason they want."

That is why I do not want it to be illegal because some do feel differently and if it were illegal they would take other routes that could be extremely dangerous for the woman. If they can live with doing it, more power to them. I just couldn't.

Yes, I'm definitely not saying that if the mother is going to be a single parent, that they should abort the child. If they think they can handle it on their own, more power to them, and I have immense respect for that. Like you, I feel like if they don't think they can handle it, they should have the right to abort. If they and the kid(s) will need to go on public assistance if they aren't aborted - I'd actually lean towards that the kid should be aborted to prevent a burden on the rest of the country - but I would never say that they had to, and I realize that probably isn't going to be a popular opinion.

She should have her vagina sewn shut. Kidding not kidding.

After doing this work for a long, long time and the things I have to hear about and type up and put in charts, I am ALL for some sterilization of a few folks! Good grief! You would not believe some of the stuff I have to put in reports! LOL people do some crazy stuff! Stupid is rampant!

You mentioned you do medical coding. What kind specifically?

No, I do medical records/transcribing for doctors now. Years ago I worked in Radiology at a hospital then when I realized being a single mom was not going to be fun and I could work at home doing transcription and make even more money, I talked people into letting me do that instead! I've been doing it for over 20 years now. I love it but it is a very isolating type job in that I work at home and don't see any co-workers, just talk to a few online but the money is too good complain about.

Ah, got it. So how do you get paid? Per word? Per record?

I'm usually in an office but I've been working from home this week and it has been interesting. I like the freedom to throw in a load of laundry, for example, but it's weird not seeing anybody else all day.

I get paid $1 per minute of dictation so if a doctor sits there chewing, thinking, or talking to someone else, I am still getting paid. Now there are a couple of docs that drive me ape-sh*t crazy because they do the dumbest stuff but most are great and I have been doing it so long, I am averaging over $40 an hour.

I tend to goof off a lot though (like now LOL) but do get plenty of work done throughout the day. I don't like to sit at my desk for more than 2 hours at a time. I get my house cleaned, run errands, watch TV, play with my dog or whatever. It's pretty good. I love it.

ahh so you do laundry too.

My two brothers and I were basically raised by a single mom. She taught us self-reliance. I have better domestic skills than any woman I've ever dated.
Wait, are we saying laundry is difficult? There's a lot of shit I don't know how to do, but even I can do my own laundry and have since I was young.

Well of course anyone can throw clothes in a machine, pour detergent in and turn a knob BUT there is a way to do it correctly and have it come out smelling and looking perfect, not everyone can do that, my friend! hehe

It's not that it's difficult, it's just so damn tedious and annoying. I'm the kind of guy that would jump through hoops to save $5, but I would gladly pay someone $100 a month to just do my laundry.

Every piece of clothing has a tag that tells you how to wash it and not ruin it. I feel like laundry is fairly idiot proof.

Heard. And by "someone," you're envisioning something like this yes?

Just tell your girlfriend your relationship with the laundry-doer is purely professional.

I'm weird I guess. I get a thrill out of it smelling good! I feel accomplished then! :)

Oh, I like the smell of freshly cleaned laundry, and love to have it folded nicely so that it's not all wrinkled when I go to wear it. I just despise doing the laundry and the folding in order to get those two sensations.

Yes exactly. Although I'm assuming I'd have to pay a bit more than $100/month for her "services" (which would be very much worth it as well).

I do 95% of laundry at my house. I refuse to run the dryer or dishwasher until after 10 p.m. , wife asleep by then.

When the hell do you fold your clothes? Do you wear night vision goggles?
after 11:15 p.m. many nights up to 12 (normally 2 loads a week) or either fluff 'em up after 10 p.m. and fold the next night. Electric rates are lowest after 10 p.m.
