Honestly, gratitude is something I think all Christians strive for, but most of us realize we aren't nearly as thankful for what we have as we should be. I do believe Christians are probably more aware of the blessing we have than non-Christians, simply because that is a basic tenant of our faith and we are (or should be) taught that gratitude for what we have is to always be at the forefront of our prayer life. I also think that our society downplays gratitude, which is why we see so many lacking in gratitude for what this country offers each of us.
With that said, I find myself personally caught up in daily life so much that I often neglect to realize the blessings I have. Life has a way of making you turn your focus elsewhere sometimes and I forget to thank God for all He has blessed me with as often as I should.
But, I am also a firm believer that there is a Satan out there actively seeking to turn my focus from God on a daily basis and if he can get me to stop thinking about what I have been given and keep me from thanking God for it, then he succeeds. It sounds cliche', but I do believe that spiritual battle takes place in my life every day in a number of ways, with gratitude being one of them. It is my job to recognize that and not allow that to happen, which is not as easy as it sounds.
