GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its 2022-23 Men’s Basketball All-ACC Academic Team on Thursday.
The team is comprised of 44 student-athletes and highlighted by All-ACC honorees Hunter Tyson of Clemson and Kyle Filipowski of Duke. Tyson was a First-Team All-ACC honoree, while Filipowski earned Second-Team All-ACC honors and was named the 2023 ACC Freshman of the Year and the ACC Tournament MVP.
Tyson was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team for the fourth time in his career. Prior to the ACC Tournament, Tyson was named the 2023 recipient of the Skip Prosser Award, presented annually to the top scholar-athlete in ACC men’s basketball. He was presented the award on March 9 prior to the Tigers’ ACC Tournament game against NC State.
Syracuse’s Joseph Girard III and Virginia Tech’s Hunter Cattoor each earned All-ACC Academic Team honors for the third time.
Notre Dame, Virginia and Virginia Tech led all schools with six honorees on the 2022-23 team. Louisville and Pitt each had five selections.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
