I keep hearing Justin Jackson, Luke Kennard and Bonzie Colson as the top 3 contenders.

Everyone seems to be settling on Kennard because... he carried dook when they were hurting? When Allen was suspended (one whole game), and the freshmen were recovering. Meanwhile, they had a loaded bench.

I'm not knocking Kennard. He's a great player and he is dook's best player. But, Justin has played like a boss all season. And, we've had our share of injuries, too! We also didn't have the number of McD's AA's either.

Kennard can't guard his shadow. He gives up as many points as he scores. Jackson is a much, much better defender. JJ should win it.

JJ should win hands down!

He is just as consistent in scoring. He also carried our team through slumps and injuries. He adds active and long D. He adds rebounding on both ends.

AND JJ doesn't look like the Grocer on Raising Hope!

I think if we can win at least one of the final two games (and especially if we beat Dook and give them 7-8 ACC losses) Jackson should win it. The best player on the champs is usually a good pick in my book, unless someone is clearly better. Kennard and Jackson are pretty close value wise, with Kennard's slightly better offensive output mitigated by the fact JJ is a better defender as mentioned above.

ACC POY is one of the few things that really pays attention to body of work! Historically, peeps have dropped off the list and been added based on performance. NCAA seeding otoh often is based on tradition and somebodies eye test, but POY is a true merit based award.

Hopefully, last year's jobbing in the Final Game is enough motivation!

I'd like to know how K can load the box with 5-stars and then bench them for new 5-stars and somehow bullsh*t a new set every year to come and play.

The idea that Kennard "carried Duke" is a load of BS. Duke has enough 5-star players to fill 3 teams. If he doesn't develop them and opts for the newest OAD flavor-of-the-week, that's his problem. Jefferson and Jones get playing time because of their experience and their roles. You can bet your ass if there were another Okafor that he could have coaxed into the position, those guys would never see the court except to play relief minutes. Kennard is an exceptional player. The best player dook has, in fact. But, I think he's getting the nod because the dook TEAM is not parked-in-first-place as usual. With the talent they have, they should be undefeated.

Don't get me wrong, I think K is an incredible college basketball coach. And, his presence has made the rivalry and the game much more fun for the legacy and the memories. But, I have my doubts, now, that he could "get more out of less" in recruits. And, granted, he has earned the ability to get all the best recruits. K is benefiting from our NCAA woes as much as anyone.

a pure pg is def being missed with this team....benched 5 stars?..javin/white/vrank arent 5 stars...should be playing some more...bolden isnt 100% and jeter even though his hs ranking just isnt there and he got good minutes when capel was coaching, then he had some back surgery

I really wonder what Knox, Duval, Bamba are thinking after their struggles this season. A team loaded with 5 stars not getting minutes, no chemistry, and they have the most unlikeable player maybe in CBB history.

If I'm a parent of a HS senior, these things would scare the hell out of me.

Now I think we need to beat Dook for Justin to win it. Can't get swept and only share the ACC title, or it weakens his case a lot.
