Here's the known facts about our 2017 schedule: (LINK)

Saturday, September 2nd -- HOME vs. California

Saturday, September 16th -- AWAY at Old Dominion (lol)

Saturday, October 7th -- HOME vs. Notre Dame

Saturday, November 18th -- HOME vs. Western Carolina

Those four games are set in stone. Furthermore, our home ACC opponents will be Duke, Miami, Virginia, Louisville and our away ACC opponents will be GT, Pittsburgh, VT, NC State

What's your prediction for schedule order?

ETA: Based on every other ACC school's pre-determined OOC schedule, only BC and Louisville and us have openings in week 2. Since we don't play BC, we know Louisville is our week 2 opponent (yikes).

This schedule is fascinating the more I look at it. LOTS of good home games. No one can complain about the home slate this year:

Power 5 California
Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson and Louisville (most likely Top 10 at time of game)
Duke... enough said
Notre Dame... enough said
the South's Oldest Rivalry
Miami... enough said, and with major Coastal implications (hopefully)
Western Carolina (NC State tune-up + Senior Day)

I'd rather play L'ville early in the year before they get the wheels rolling. We play a much tougher opponent than them week one so maybe that will be to our advantage.

Great home slate and no back to back road games. Louisville in week 2 to open ACC play is tough but still plenty of opportunity for a strong start if we play well. I guess we will know right off the bat what kind of season it's going to be.

The one thing that I would hope for is the next time a Hurricane is in the neighborhood, is that serious thought be given to moving the game back or forward a day or two because our offense is not built to play in those type of conditions as we seen last year...Not to mention, the risk to fans who are traveling to and from the game in those conditions are risky at best, and very dangerous at worst....It was the worst decision that I have seen made by a UNC administration in terms of scheduling a game and as a player it would have been tough to concentrate on a football game if my family was in peril or distress at home or were traveling to the game, and really don't care what decision is made at other schools in this regard...Common sense needs to prevail at times, and I didn't see any of that last year!

Louisville will be about as tough a conference opener as the Tar Heels have had....Fortunately, we do get a tuneup with Cal who will be under new leadership....Notre Dame early in the season is also a bonus since they too will have a new QB under center, but the back to back with @ Va Tech and home to Miami will likely determine whether we have a chance at the Coastal Division title or not IMO!....I do like the Bye after the Miami game, but Pitt will be tough on a first-year QB on a Thursday night...Just hope that our defense can keep us in some games this year until the offense can get some experience under their belt...

For the millionth time, blame Notre Dame for us playing that game against VT. Notre Dame forced everyone's hand -- and it backfired on them cuz they lost.

Who the hell cares about what Notre Dame does?....As a team and a Universtiy, you've got to do what is best for you....Notre Dame is not even in the ACC, and has no chance for a Division or Conference title, so why should anybody care about what the Irish do until such time that they do decide to join the ACC...It was a stupid decision period!

I think Tar Heel fans think it was a dumb decision because we lost. Sour grapes and what not.

I say that as someone who was at the game and drove there the day of. Re-scheduling a college football game is NOT the same as re-scheduling a basketball game. It's a multi-million dollar decision.

I understand that, but South Carolina didn't have a problem, and neither did Florida when they had to reschedule, and both schools mentioned the threat to families traveling to and from those games as a reason to postpone...Peoples' lives should always be more important than ANY sporting event regardless of whether a network has the game scheduled or not...It's about priorities!

Maybe, this topic has been discussed a million times as you say, but this is the first time that I have commented about it, and it's not due to Sour Grapes....Va Tech was perfectly suited to play this game because they had a big QB much like our former QB Marquise Williams who could get positive yardage regardless of the weather, and had a big physical TE who they liked to throw the ball to on occasions, and used their RBs much differently than we do in their offense....We on the other hand did not have Hood available for the game due to the concussion protocol, and had no other RB on our team with the ability to run between the tackles in those conditions like he possibilly could have?...Logan was a great back as far as running outside but as you know it was virtually impossible to do that in those conditions...Sure, we didn't help ourselves with the turnovers that we made in that game, but that was another reason the game shouldn't have been played especially if you watched the Notre Dame game in which they turned the ball over numerous times in that game with several of those inside State's 20yd line...

My biggest point though is that North Carolina unlike Notre Dame has several kids from Eastern N.C. and Eastern Virginia who are on the roster, and it would be hard for me if I were one of those kids to concentrate on the game of football when I would be worried about whether my family would be in danger either at home or on the road traveling to and from the game, due to those dangerous conditions....Remember, a lot of folks from Eastern N.C. lost their lives during this Hurricane...

I realize all this is in hindsight, but I hope our administration would take this into account in the future, and would NOT base decisions on what other teams and administrations decide to do, or not do....As I stated above, you've always got to do what is best for your team and your school in situations like these, and deal with any fallout afterward in regards to those decisions...

As we all know now, that game was really a determining factor in who represented the Coastal Division in the ACC Championship game, and I believe that loss sucked-out what motivation last year's team had moving forward after that game, hence the losses to rivals Dook and the Wusspack!

Money drives everything nowadays, and I understand that, but it should not be a factor when people's lives are at stake!

You say it's not sour grapes but a lot of your supporting reasons sound like sour grapes:
- VT was better suited to play in the rain
- the game ended up impacting the Coastal race
- Hood wasn't available for the game, etc.

Not Sour Grapes, but FACTS!

You sound like a Democrat...lol!

Well you're an idiot then because I'm about as conservative as they come.

It was a no-win situation that probably won't happen again in our lifetime. We played. We lost. It is what it is.

Ok whatever!

I'm an idiot for presenting the facts, and you're a so-called conservative that sounds like a Democrat!

It is what it is to use your own words, and we will agree to disagree about what transpired!

Time to move on from this topic, but I'm sure you'll have to have to last word as usual, so have at it!

Let's make the Tar Heels Great Again!

That's my new slogan by the way!

There is obviously only one way to make Tar Heel football GREAT AGAIN. We all must wear pussy hats every game day.
