Absolute insanity. A guy who takes everyone's preseason #1, loaded 10+ deep with McD AAs and 4* and 5*s....
takes this group, and manages to play 6 or 7 of them for meaningful minutes. Lets several 4&5*s sit on the bench much / most of the year, with competing states of pure anger, disappointment, frustration....with wondering of "what is next for me? NBA or transfer? I've been lied to and sold out, used, abused and discarded by this egomaniac coach"
Lets a kid with anger issues over the last two years basically screw up any chemistry on the team and cause major distractions and controversy for weeks - without sufficiently addressing the issue at all.
Humiliates his "young men"via some controlling, rage play where the players don't deserve to wear Dook clothing or go in the locker room - (nice and rational there, LOM!)
Loses to NC State at home (or was that one on Capel I forget)..... part of losing 3 out of 4 (once, going on twice)
And will finish somewhere around 4th to 7th in the ACC.
How does he do it all? Who could have done so much when given so little to work with. Crown him NCAA coach of the year right now and be done with it.
There must be 4-5 coaches in the ACC ahead of K, easily.... to an objective person: Roy, the GT coach, Buzz, Bennet at UVA given what they lost last year, and lack of consistent scorers, ditto for Mike Brey at ND... maybe even Manning.

I know Adam personally, very well in fact. It's all about getting people to call the show & I'll bet that worked. I'll "almost" guarantee he doesn't think K should be COY. I say almost because I know he can be what you said in your last sentence on occasion, just not as often as some believe. He's one of the most intelligent people I know.........& also one of the worst golfers I know.
Yup, Roy has done well but GT has far exceeded expectations.
And Roy has done a great job! It's one thing to win some games you aren't supposed to win when there's no pressure on you or your team. It's quite another to live in a pressure cooker and be expected to win almost every game in the toughest league in the country. That's what Roy has done.
Meh, road games are always tough, even more so this year. And winning at UVA is doubly difficult. Most of us anticipated a loss there.
no it didn't, but i didn't think this team had a chance of doing what it's done because of player losses and while i'm not a huge roy fan this has been an exceptional job so far in my opinion.

I'm sure you're right. I stopped listening to Adam & Joe over a year ago when they brought Lauren Brownlow on ... she ruined what was already a barely-tolerable sports talk show with her hyperventilating, borderline screeching, emotional female "hot takes" - gag.
I moved from the area several years ago so I never heard her. I could barely tolerate Ovies so I didn't listen much then. A friend of mine, who has since gone into the baseball scouting business, used to work at 850 & that's how I met Adam. I like him but get that he can be very controversial. All in all a pretty good guy when he's not pissing people off.
on the internet everything is A-B tested. controversial statements piss more people off and get more clicks, more clicks equals more money.

I used to listen to him ~15 years ago when I lived in the triangle. Didn't think he was all that great but it was the only sports talk option at the time.

It is truly amazing that we cannot get a high quality sports talk radio show for the afternoons in the Triangle. I used to enjoy Taylor Zarzour when he was in Charlotte and had the afternoon show. We even lost the Dan Patrick Show in the mornings, replaced by some jokers who spend about 5% of the time talking sports and the other 95% about their personal life. It sucks.
We don't even have bad radio sports talk in the Triad! As far as I can find we have zero. I don't like Gold at all but even his show would be better than nothing.
I listen to Sports Talk Radio almost exclusively. I enjoy Gold's show sometimes for short stretches. (when they are actually discussing sports!) They don't spend a great deal of time actually talking sports, but mostly focus on stories generated by sports people. Ovies is hard to stomach since he strives to be so counter culture and seems to delight in anything resembling a problem for UNC. Gold can be reasonable, but often takes controversial points and sticks to them no matter what!
The reason I listen to them though is mostly due to bad options. David Glenn, Cowherd, and Bomani Jones (best of the bunch here) are also only palatable is short stints.
I'm currently starting to like Reese's Sport Shop more since they spend most of their time talking Sports. They also have Phil Ford as a regular contributor and very good guests so that helps.

Are you talking about the DAVID GLENN SHOW ... the one on the radio called the DAVID GLENN SHOW ... the one that comes on at noon called the DAVID GLENN SHOW ?? The DAVID GLENN SHOW where DAVID GLENN constantly references DAVID GLENN and his many HIGH PROFILE guests ... the one where DAVID GLENN whines and whines about HB2 and how it's negatively affecting the DAVID GLENN SHOW. Never heard of it.
Zarzour is great, hate he left 610 the fan down here, but when you're good, you climb the ladder & have better options. Kroger is pretty good & the QCB is generally entertaining but sometimes annoying. Would definitely take 610 in Charlotte over Gold & the triangle show. While we're at it Marc "with a C" James was brutal, I couldn't listen to him. Heard him fill in for Rome over the Holidays, had to turn it.
