Saw this in another forum, interesting:

Why are guns not allowed in the White House, at the capital , state houses, county court houses etc?
It's time to change that. Why are elected officials allowed to work in gun free secured zones? I'm not allowed to work in a gun free secured area . I can't go to a movie or buy my groceries in a gun free secured zone.

Do you think elected officials would look at gun laws differently ? I would love to hear from some elected officials.

Yes I meant buildings.

I get you point but let me ask you a question.

How many shooting have taken place in gun free zones, as opposed to gun friendly zone?

Ever heard tell of a mass shooting at an NRA convention?

No, but have you ever heard tell of a mass shooting at a plumbers convention, or a consumer technology convention, or a home furnishings convention, or an automotive convention, or an apparel convention? Do you get the idea? The fact that we haven't had a tragedy at an NRA convention has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that all of the convention goers are advocates of the Second Amendment.

And as for shootings at "gun-friendly zones," within the past five years there have been two shootings -- accidental shootings, mind you, by stupid gun-toting morons who have no business owning a gun in the first place -- at North Carolina gun shows:

So you concerned about accidents that happen with guns accidents happen with everything thing. Knifes, forks, nail guns, chairs, stairs, cars, ladders, ice on roads, cooking, cleaning, and even our pets killing us. But we are not banning or outlawing all those things? But yet the thing that is our right per the constitution people want to take do you see how that could be turn into an issue if we just let these things go.

The point is stop the malicious acts with guns and there are ways to do that but taking guns from law abiding citizens or saying the only way you can have a gun is locked in a safe in your own home isn't the way to do that.

All you are doing is making everyone that obeys the law a target for the ones who don't because they are not law abiding and don't follow laws anyway.

Perfect example is Chicago it has zero gun tolerance, if the gun scared idiots are correct and just pissing on the 2nd ammendment was the fix then what isn't there zero gun crimes in Chicago?

What about drug laws drugs are illegal but people are arrested or over dose ever day because of drugs why does having laws not stop people from using them?

Sound is bad and the video is small but this explains it best.

I've never understood the lack of logic behind banning guns. Doesn't make any sense to me. Prohibition never seems to work and I'd hate to have to watch society learn that lesson AGAIN with guns!

Prohibition of alcohol and drugs is a failure. A complete, utter failure. It makes drugs, in particular, obscenely profitable. Can you imagine how that would work with guns??? Suddenly, a 9mm is not only lethal, but you can make a few thousand dollars profit from it!

Yeah, I am not anti-guns at all. My uncle has a concrete room in his basement with enough guns and ammo to start a war. I think background checks and vetting and stuff like that is the way to go but have no interest in limiting a normal person's access to guns. I just think the right wing run people are kind of nuts. Many of them wear their guns just to make a point, not for any practical reason. It is just kind of weird. It is like when I used to be all into working out and would walk around without a shirt on. Eventually I grew out of it.

Strum, louigi has a point. We sat down with our pastor and decided a couple of people needed to carry. No one knows they are there except those who carry. It's the times we live in

Arm yourselves to the teeth for all I care. Mount a 50 cal machine gun on the "In Remembrance Of Me" table if it makes you feel safe. Just seems paranoid to me.

You must live with your head in the sand. But then again, didn't you say you would never resist someone strong arming you. I know chick said she would let them kill her. Figured you would be the same

I just said it seemed overly paranoid to me. But, I also don't have any problems with all the people carrying as many firearms as they want if it makes them feel safe.

And, regarding the "never resist" question; I'm all for resistance. Resist as often as necessary. I'm just not a proponent of killing people. And, it makes no sense trying to remedy violence by using even more violence.

Teenagers with guns in school is a little different situation I've got no problem with the SRO carrying one though.

agree...ours does and she's also pretty damn cool...i spend a lot of time there as pto president, on various boards, and offering help with other things as well...i feel much better about her packing than if teachers and administrators were carrying.

i don't pretend to understand the day, week, month, or year of a teacher...they could have terrible days and, well, you know.

Typical stum, take it to the extreme that is no where near reality.

Absolutely. I think it's just the kind of paranoia that people like you buy into. Keep in mind, I'm all for people having as many guns as they want. It feeds that paranoia even more.

What's wrong with a 50 cal up on the pulpit? That should deter any potential evil-doer. Or, have clay-mores strung up and down the aisles.

I would rather have my kind of "paranoia" than your kind of "paranoia". Your over the top example is absurd and you know it. Can you ever quit being an ass?

It's not paranoia for me. I'm not afraid of anyone pulling a gun on me.

Yes, they are absurd examples. Being paranoid in a church that someone will start shooting people is also absurd to me. But, again, I don't care who carries or how many they wanna carry.

Yes, I can quit being an ass.

Do I need to list the BILLIONS and BILLIONS of church services where absolutely nothing EVER happens?

ETA: I meant millions.

There are over 300,000 Protestant churches in America. I'm not even including Catholic parishes.

1,560,000 services annually (just one service on just a weekly basis)

Going back to 1999, that's 280,800,000, give or take. And, again, not including any other religious denominations other than Protestant. So, 18 out of 280,800,000 sounds like astronomical odds. Now, I'm sure you left some out as well. But, the point is; it's hardly a concern.

There were 3 planes on 9/11.
Really? I think you're right.

Should we count the number of flights that have flown uninterrupted since then? Approximately 477 billion. I think you were doing better when you were pushing the church shootouts.

Really? I think you're right.

Should we count the number of flights that have flown uninterrupted since then? .
Thanks to air marshals with hidden guns, TSA, and no fly lists. An no, we did not have to mount a 50 cal to the beverage cart.

All you are doing is making everyone that obeys the law a target for the ones who don't because they are not law abiding and don't follow laws anyway.
Not at all. So you understand where I'm coming from, let me say that I am a proponent of the Second Amendment.

However, let me add this:

Just because a convention is headed up by the NRA with gun-loving members in attendance, don't assume they are safe. In fact, of all the conventions held in this country each year, I would imagine the NRA is one that is at the highest risk of being shot up, ironic as it may be.

Back to the topic of "gun-friendly zones," keep in mind the attacks by gunmen at Ft. Hood in Texas and the Naval Base at Norfolk, Va., in 2014; the Navy Yard complex in Washington, D.C., Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in Texas, Fort Knox, Ky., and the Marine Corps Base Quantico's Officer Training School in Virginia in 2013; Marine Corps reservist Yonathan Melaku who committed a series of drive-by shootings at various military installations in northern Virginia in 2010; Ft. Hood, Texas, again in 2009 which is the largest mass murder at a military installation in American history.

And the list goes on and on . . .

My whole point is that armed civilians might not be the automatic deterrent some think they could be.

That... And, people just generally being law-abiding, peaceful people that just want to get to their destinations as quickly and easily as possible.
And, that TSA, buddy... they are just tip-of-the-top, aren't they?
http://www.redstate.com/brandon_mor...ample-tsa-awful-useless-waste-taxpayer-money/
The reason the TSA is so costly is because if the Liberal teamsters union that has infiltrated TSA. We can void the TSA for all I care, but somebody will stll screen passengers and it will cost a lot of money and still upset folks.
