Another '17 big man?

Don't discount Stokes relationship with Tenn, they will be hard to beat for him. As for Brooks, his dad is on the Miss st bench, don't see much in this for us.

Has TN offered Stokes for basketball or only for football?

Is there any indication that he wants to play both sports? If so, have we offered him for football?

Absolutely no way he plays both sports in college...Kid did not lose all that weight to play basketball and dedicate to basketball to go back and add that weight he would need to play on the oline as a footballer.

He's been quoted as saying he believes you can only be at your best by playing 1 sport. Down from 310 to 250, he's 100% a hooper now.

Truth.
1. Stokes will NOT play both sports. He turned down football offers from real SEC powers to concentrate on hoops.
2. For those fretting about Stokes we are very much in it, and our staff will be down there watching him on the first available Fall evaluation day (this Friday).

is the recruiting tactic..."push the offered big to commit ASAP", if there's no indication to do so..begin searching for the next one interested?....just Stokes/Huffman offered and time keeps ticking

Keep in mind, Huffman is local so Roy can kinda control things a little more than he can for Stokes. By the way, don't automatically assume Stokes for us guys, we are in good shape but this isn't as simple as Huffman.

True and true. Nothing automatic at all, but we're at least in the thick of it with Stokes.

Not sure I understand what you are asking? If anything I would look opposite, that Roy doesn't push that hard for a now commit but more likes to take his time to be sure and wants the player to do the same. He for example, has not pushed Stokes at all in fact wants to watch him more. He allowed Huffman to take his time, he has put offers out that are first come first serve, think that was why Platek jumped so quick, White wasted no time saying yes.

I think when Roy backs away from a kid it is either he does not like something when he watches a kid, IMO the case with Watson, or he feels he is wasting his time as maybe the case with Carter. There are guys that have expressed past interest in us that for reasons maybe only known to Roy, he elects to pass on considering, examples McCoy or Billy Preston who is in what has been a recruiting hot bed for us.

As to a response above, which David addressed briefly, the short answer is yes, Roy still has an eye on a couple of '17 kids, sure we'd like Huffman and Stokes but we have to continue to protect UNC's interests, let them know we want them and stay in touch with one or two others ....the ones with offers understand the game, sure we'll wait on one of the very top kids but we are not holding our breath, hence we explore options.

I think I would also add that UNC or any blue blood program is going to recruit 0-3 star basketball players differently than it recruits 4 & 5 star guys. There will and should be more of a tell me where we stand approach to the lower ranked kids. You do not want to be head coach of a blue blood program and lose a 3 star kid that you have publically went hard after. You can take that hit on a 5 star because typically multiple power programs are contending but you do not want that hit on a 3 star or below.

(paraphrasing david)
Recruiting is such a delicate balance. No real written rules. Do we wait on one top 5 kid so long, like until next spring, such that we might not get one of three other really good players who can be quite capable for 3-4 years? My answer is I'd sure take three Brice type kids over one OAD. Stats show OAD's aren't bringing in Championships as some suggest, even when the entire team is all OAD's!
