It is bad in many ways. It is far from any decent recruiting ground, and other than the ND fans, virtually nobody in NY cares about college football.
But is a great opportunity for up and comers. It is in a P5 conference, one with mostly Southern teams. That should make it make it easier for Syracuse to recruit than it was 20 years ago.
What Syracuse needs is a coach whose game will draw fans to the Carrier Dome. That means passing, a lot of it, with running coming off the passing. Mike Leach would have been great for Syracuse.
I think an OC the Cuse should explore is Scott Frost.
Lincoln Riley is also worth a chat or two. He may be the best young OC in the game, and he knows the ACC area from his time at ECU. He is a native Texan who may prefer to coach in the southwest, but a P5 HC job at his age would be hard to pass up.
