I was going to post this in response to some comments made in the Deflate-gate thread but I felt it would get more play as its own thread. Please answer the following questions.

- Is it cheating when a receiver knows they've trapped the ball on the turf yet they act like they've caught it?

- Is it cheating when a lineman holds and it's not called?

- Is it cheating when a basketball player knows he was the last to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds but his team is awarded the ball?

- Is it cheating when a base runner at second base figures out the signs the catcher is using to signal the pitcher and then discusses it with the team in between innings?

- Is it cheating when there is a play at the plate and the catcher acts as if he tagged the runner but he really didn't?

- Is it cheating when a basketball player or soccer player flops and there really wasn't contact?

- Is it cheating when a player wears cleats that have spikes that are 1/8th of an inch too long?

- Is it cheating to over-inflate a football?

- Is it cheating when a NASCAR team alters their car in an undetectable way?

- Is it cheating for a hockey goalie to use larger pads thus cutting down on available net for the shooter?

- Is it cheating for a hockey goalie to scrape the ice just in front of the net to potentially slow down or alter puck speed and direction?

- Is it cheating when a defensive football player fakes an injury to slow down a quick tempo opponent?

- Is it cheating for your own grounds crew to let the grass grow really long on the days that your team is sending a ground ball pitcher to the mound?

- Is it cheating for a tennis player to wipe sweat on the ball before a serve to cause a skipping effect when the ball was served?

- Is it cheating for a grounds crew to water the base paths when they know they have a faster opponent?

If something is against the rules, it's cheating. If it's not in the rules, it's not.
