is a moron. Looks like the patriots sign another problematic receiver. Wonder if he will last long there?

Raiders were smArt to save 30 million dollars

From what I've heard, he had already voided his guaranteed money. The Raiders could have suspended him for a year, not paid him, and made him sit for a year, but they didn't. I think Brown orchestrated this whole thing to get out of his contract. The Pats will be the beneficiary of all this.

So sick of the PATS Now this guy signs with them... all the more reason to hate them even more

I forbid to believe he’s smart enough to plan this all along and I even more forbid to believe he’d give up $30M guaranteed to get $9M guaranteed.
Yeah, the biggest plot hole in that theory is the guaranteed money.

He consulted a PR firm before going this direction. He might not be smart enough, but he's at least smart enough to hire other people who are.

Yeah, the biggest plot hole in that theory is the guaranteed money.

He's getting a one-year $15 million dollar contract, which is basically guaranteed (I think it's $9 million). Then the Pats have a $20 million dollar option that automatically becomes guaranteed if they decide to exercise it. Basically, he's probably going to get the same amount of guaranteed, win one or two SBs, and then be available to get one more massive contract.

Edit: Oh yeah, and he also gets to troll his old team in the process. Word is he wanted to be traded to the Pats, but the Steelers wouldn't do that. I think part of it is how bad the Steelers and their fans hate the Pats, and I think part of it is that they're pissing themselves that the Pats over take their six championships in the modern era. I used to think he was crazy too, but I'm 95% sure that this was planned at this point. And do you know what? I LOVE it!!! :D

Except when he gets a career ending injury in week three. Then he gets nine this year and that's it. Just because he's good doesn't mean he'll get another contract though. TO was more than good enough to get one more contract, but nobody wanted that cancer in their locker room. Maybe the Patriots can control him, but I think there's a higher chance of him not lasting this year than there is of him being back next year.

Maybe he values winning a championship over making guaranteed money?

the best part of this entire deal, and the patriots are masters at it...they sign vets and other guys to one year deals, win, then let them walk for compensatory picks if they get re-signed somewhere else...he’s now at worst a 3rd or 4th round compensatory pick in return if they bounce him after a year...it’s pure genius when you already draft well and your franchise qb is still at the top of his game.

Well, if there's anything we've learned throughout his career is that Brown is about Brown. To win a championship you have to be a team player, that goes double for the Patriots. Like I said, maybe he's become a completely different player but I doubt it.

It's possible that this will be a train wreck. I won't try to convince you that there isn't any risk. However, remember that the Pats have a really strong locker room. Historically they've been able to handle players like AB.

100%. They get a top-end WR to fill in the gap in their receiving core. Gordon is the big, physical receiver, Edelman is the shifty underneath receiver, but they needed that good route running almost burner type receiver (granted, Dorsett looked like he could fill that role in week 1, but that was probably a flash in the pan).

If he turns out to be a vital piece to the puzzle and not a team chemistry problem - the pats will gladly keep him for $20M next year. If he's not worth the $20M, they get a year of service and bought a 3rd rounder for $15M. If it's a complete shitshow, they cut bait for $9M, which is essentially what they have as a discount from their QB making below market value, so no real harm there either.

What an idiot lol
It's slightly troubling, in a way. When I think of the importance that we put on professional sports, and the affect it has on the culture, and most athletes (especially football) are varying degrees of that guy... it just seems kind of depressing. He's barely literate.

And this wasn’t some spur of the moment thing where he misspoke. He had as much time as he wanted to craft those emails and that’s what he came up with.

And you’re right, it’s kinda sad to think that kids grow up wanting to talk like that because of some moron who makes millions of dollars catching a football.

2 years later? She met up with him 2 other times after he sexually assaulted her for, what she claims, just more sexual assault? No criminal charges, just after money? Mom has outstanding IRS bills?

Call me skeptical but I'm gonna need Miss Taylor to show me some sort of proof here.

Well, she showed where he admitted to one claim. That should make you at least think it's possible that she's not completely full of shit.

Maybe I'm not as 2019 woke as I need to be...but cumming on a chick's back that you just had sex with earlier doesn't fall into my range of "assault". It's more like shenanigans.
That's not what happened from what I understand. She was asleep when it happened. Doing something like that while someone is asleep is kind of creepy. You don't need to be woke to know that.

Oh it's creepy as hell, no one is denying that. Is it sexual assault/rape? Meh.

this sounds like the derrick rose deal...he played through a civil suit and was found not liable.

the question is, does the league do what the nba didn’t do and suspend his ass.

The league has been pretty sensitive to any kind of issue involving these types of charges since the Rice thing happen. I would expect a preemptive suspension is almost guaranteed thanks to those emails.

Do you think it's okay to dump baby batter on someone who is asleep, without their knowledge? Of course not. It's more than just creepy. It's non-consensual and it's an example of sexual misconduct, assault, whatever. It's not pin-you-down anal penetration while you are screaming and resisting. But, it's still being violated.

100%.
I was going to ask if anyone is able to translate those into English sentences but there's nothing of value in them.
I totally agree about holding these guys up as role models. My family (kids and I) enjoy sports as much as the next person, but I've drilled into their heads you never want to be like any of these guys. Find better role models.

Odd - I always thought the NFL offense playbooks, offensive schemes, etc. were pretty hard to memorize, and you had to be pretty smart to get all the plays right. Time after time, guys like AB, Adrian Peterson, and about every other super low IQ, high physical ability offensive NFL player proves that must not be the case.

When did I say it was ok?

All I'm saying is I do separate that type of behavior (which happened clearly after she consensually had sex with him) than rape. I think most rational people do.

Is he a scum bag, creep, etc? Yes. We knew that already. Do I put him in the same category as a rapist if this is all he did? No, I personally do not.
