I had a magician perform a bizarre trick on me years ago and I am always fascinated with the tricks they do. I just saw a guy on the Today show do a card trick where the card they picked ended up INSIDE an unpeeled orange. How the hell does that happen?????

My High School mascot were the "Magicians", and I'd still root for them if I went to a game, so I'd say I'm a fan of magicians.

I watched David Blaine's special a few months ago. It was pretty good. I do like magic when it's good. I wouldn't necessarily go see it live, but if they have a magician on late night or someone posts a youtube clip or something, I might check it out

Choose a card out of deck and get a duplicate
Pull stem off top,
Gouge hole
Roll up duplicate card
Insert in orange and glue stem
Back on
Cut deck of cards and Use slight of hand to make person pick duplicate card off top of deck (magic 101)
Make card disappear (magic 101)
Make huge presentation of peeling orange and pulling it apart to reveal card

U can also write identical marks on chosen card and card in orange or tear a corner off both to add to the effect

I like him too. I'm still trying to figure out how he cut those people in half. Blows my mind.

The dude that did a trick on me never even touched me but somehow changed a quarter into a wooden nickel in my clutched hand. I cannot figure out how he did it. I begged him to show me how.

He placed the quarter in your hand and folded your hand over it i guess?

He palms the nickel, he acts like his putting the quarter in your hand but discretely drops the nickel from his palm then immediately folds your hand over. Its the old nickel out of your ear trick

U prepare orange ahead of time. Use a stooge in the audience to produce it at random. "Does anyone have an orange in their bag?"

Oh yeah. He was a guy I was on a business trip with and we were having drinks and he said he was also a magician so I HAD to see a real trick because I thought there was no way to pull one over on me. He wouldn't tell me though.

This is a good one

On a clean dry surface place a cigarette

Lean your face real close to surface

Rub your fingers furiously on your shirt and claim you're creating static electricity

Place hand on other side of cigarette with fingertips you rubbed on the cigarette

Drag your hand away from your face and cig while at the same time exhaling slightly.

It takes very little air to make the cig
Roll and create the effec you're pulling it with static electricity.

Now sit back and watch the others furiously rubbing their fingers on their shirts and trying to drag th cig.

That reminds me of trick I helped pull off once. The "magician," a coworker of mine, had me select one banana from a bunch. Of course I knew which one to select but no one in the crowd was the wiser.

He took the banana, still in its peel, simulated sawing it in half with his open hand, and then handed it to someone in the crowd and asked them to peel it. Sure enough, the banana was cleanly cut into two pieces.

How did he pull it off? What he did first, which I got to witness, was slice the banana inside using a toothpick which left no noticeable mark on the outside of the peel. Very simple but by the stunned reactions you would have thought he made the Great Wall of China disappear.

It's not magic, just trickery.

Yeah, I know it is definitely trickery, but dang it I want to know HOW he got that wooden nickel into my hand without touching me! This happened about 28 years ago and I still am baffled!

During my many many boring nights in Haiti I taught myself a bunch of useless but awesome card tricks and still use them weekly. Fun stuff.
