Midway was bad-ass! But, I liked Pearl Harbor, too... so, take my recommendation with a grain of salt.
I saw Joker and liked it.
I thought the previews for Midway looked 100% horrible - sensational, low brow, terrible writing and melodramatic - but it has received good reviews so maybe it is worth a look.
This movie was in and out of the theatres quickly I think, but I liked Motherless Brooklyn pretty well. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I like Ed Norton as an actor - Bruce Willis too, though he isn't in the movie that long

The Irishman was mostly bad. It was 50 minutes too long and I just couldn't buy these super old guys playing 45-50 year old characters. Deniro walks like an old man and I just couldn't buy that he's beating the shit out of people.
Nice to see the 3 of them on film, just wish the movie came out 15 years ago.

I finished watching The Irishman last night and I thought it was mostly - meh. Not nearly as good as Goodfellas or Casino, IMHO. Pesci in particular was so low key it was almost like I was watching someone else. I guess part of it, too, is that DeNiro has gotten so over the top with his political rants against Trump that I almost can't stand to watch him. (And, yes, I know most of Hollywood is liberal and I am fine with everyone having their beliefs, but he just can't shut up about it. We get it. You hate Trump. Fine. No go make better movies or something)
Still, I've always like him as an actor, but I didn't think this was close to being one of his best performances. I thought Pacino did a good job as Hoffa, but it still wasn't one of his best roles.
And, you are right, the flashbacks to them in their younger years was laughable.

Besides, any movie with Kate Beckinsale in it can only be so bad and this one had Jennifer Garner in it as well.

I liked him in Argo and Gone Girl. That’s all I can think of.
Looks pretty cool to me.* Much better than a complete reboot.
*I'll admit that I have a huge bias here. GB was one of my favorite childhood movies/cartoons/toys, so just about anything connected to it will interest me.
