Anybody been to India?

I was asked to go there for a week to help train some of the offshore guys who had just hopped on board at work. No way in hell will I ever go there. Absolutely no way.
My wife and I will be spending 3 weeks there the end of January. We planned on going several years ago to a wedding but the 2 families could not agree on the dowry so we missed that trip.

India is pretty low on my list of places I would like to go.

Something like (starting with the worst):
  • Middle East-Northern Africa
  • Most of the rest of Africa except where they do safaris
  • India
  • Southeast Asia
  • China
  • Korea
Anywhere else and I would voluntarily go and be excited to do so, unless of course it is a dangerous place like Rio, Venezuela, etc.

Let me guess you don't travel much?

Don't forget about Canada. Only an idiot would vacation there.

And.......
It was... an experience. Parts of it were really cool and a lot of it was eye opening in terms of the poverty and the contrast with the U.S. and other places I've been. The sheer number and density of people in Mumbai is crazy. I can't even begin to explain the traffic. But for all the differences the people were great. My sister, who I was visiting, lived there for 2+ years and she and her fiance had their first son there.

Where are you going, specifically? I imagine the resort areas are really nice.

With so many people, especially in the cities, labor is really cheap so things like house cleaning, massage, having a personal driver, etc. are more accessible.

Y'all know how much I hate travel and how much I hate anything that isn't America. That being said, I'd rather travel to just about any country in the world over India. The only places I can think of that are worse are the Middle East and the war-torn African countries.

This is a group trip for us. We love to travel on our own but not to India.

To each his own. I hate to spend money on stuff. I much rather spend money on experiences, they can never be taken away from you.

Couldn't agree more, although I only spend discretionary income on experiences which I believe will turn out well. Going to India does not meet this threshold for me.

Hell, even the 100 bucks I paid your sorry ass was an experience. We got to talk junk to each other for a few months.

Yes, but you were 100 percent certain you were going to win the $100.

That being said, if you want to keep talking junk, I will do it if you pay me $50 this time- I'm giving you the discounted rate as a repeat customer.
