I use Chrome and for the last few day when I come here after a few minutes audio starts playing and I can't pin down where it is coming from but it only does it if I have OOTB opened. Anybody else having this problem?

It's not your browser. It's the site. On the right-hand side of the page are two video ads, one under your profile information (name, messages, likes) and the other farther down the page. Some of them have the sound muted, but others like the ones you're hearing don't.

Auto-play videos are the worst internet creation of all time, followed closely by slide shows.

Under Settings/Privacy/Content Settings you can change how Chrome handles plugins like the Flash player that most of those autoplay ads use. Change it to "Let me choose when to run plugin content." You can still play videos that you want to play but nothing will run automatically.

I avoid anything and everything that has to do with Google if at all possible. It has a disastrous effect on my computer, slows it down tremendously

I've had the opposite experience. Google's stuff seems to run well, integrates smoothly between different applications and devices, and generally has simple, usable interfaces.
