Ten fouls called the wrong way can always give any team in the Championship game, more than an average chance...Unfortunately, Wisconsin knows now what many have known for many, many years (all, imo)...

Skewed Again...

Deadspin had an interesting article on this too, link below. They start the article off by calling him out for being a sore loser, poor sport, etc. But then finish it off by saying basically, what do we expect when we stick microphones in coaches faces after a huge loss like that (especially one in which they might think they got a raw deal - either deliberately or just by chance). The author does take it a bit far throwing all coaches into the same bucket of "maniacs" but the general point of the article is good.

hark - think this is possibly the only reason that i am willing to cut harrison a little slack for his comments ...

most of us played sports - some form or the other - had our team just lost a game - immediately after, never ask me or think that i would shell out rosy accolades for the opposing players ...

had a good friend that has since passed away ... he used to say "show me a good loser and i will show you a loser" ... some truth in that

Ya, the Harrison deal was similar. He was being asked to praise the player that just derailed his 40-0 season, I can imagine I wouldn't have been too quick to praise Kaminsky either if I were him. Granted, racist slurs aren't the best tactic, and generally get magnified by the media, so he could have used some better judgement in his venting.

But the sports comment is spot on. I played a variety of sports when I was younger, and I had an uber-competitive side, that I couldnt even explain. I'm sure if you stuck a mic in my face after a tough loss I would have said some stuff I regretted too. Although to be fair, I was an adolescent kid, not being paid millions of dollars to be able to control those feelings around the media, but still....

Harrison looked juvenile. Bo came off looking petty about the refs. Heck, if it weren't for bad officiating against Kentucky where Wisconsin scored 4 points off bad calls (in the first half on a busted play where Wisconsin player was guilty of illegal touching by coming back in bounds for an uncontested layup without establishing himself back in the court, and of course the obvious second half shot clock violation that wasn't called at the most critical of times). And though I hate to say it because I was pulling for Wisconsin, they got away with murder on defending Duke driving to the basket in the first half. And never thought I would see a team whine more when things went wrong than Duke does. But Wisky took whining to a new standard when it started coming apart on them.

This Wisconsin team beat the BEST team in the Tournament on Saturday night in my opinion. However much that took out of them since Duke did get to play FIRST, is an unknown. However, they (Wisconsin) did win. On Monday night they got jobbed and robbed ,again in my opinion. Most of America saw it all unfold as well. That is a variable that may indeed be the shining light in this whole fiasco. Dook did not get any big unfavorable calls against them when it came down to the final few minutes. However, Wisconsin got hosed time after time(imo).

The question wasn't too Harrison, he just got caught with a hot mic. I certainly am not defending him, because it did come across as juvenile, but it was an emotional situation, and also wasnt meant to be heard I dont believe.

That same scenario has cost a lot of people by saying things out loud they should keep to themselves.Especially where there is a mic present.Being anointed as the greatest college team ever assembled by so called experts, the last thing these kids wanted to talk about was the other teams players. If it was UNC in that same position, who's to say one our players wouldn't have made the same comment? Emotions are hard to control.

Agree. And, they are also kids. I think we tend to forget that when talking about college athletes. But if saying something rude is the worst thing a college sophomore does, then I don't think it is that big a deal.

I don't ever understand why you can't complain about the officiating. It was terrible and everyone damn well knows it. Maybe we need more people to complain to get it changed. Its biased, incompetent officiating and it directly has an affect on the outcome of the game.
