The NCAA never should have allowed D1 basketball to be a Free for All in which every league gets an auto bid, no matter how super weak the league is or how many losses its 'champion' has.

That is just the way it is. Flawed yes. But we all know that any of these auto qualifiers are most times little more than first round road kill that have zero chance to go anywhere in the tourney. I almost wish they would go to 2nd tourney like 1-AA in football. Frees up spots for legitimate teams in the big dance and gives those guys something achievable to play for
