He says this about upcoming UVA "I think on offense when you’ve got a veteran O-line that's physical and does a good job, and I think they do, and then you’ve got a quarterback who I think is a tremendous player, you can do everything and that's a pretty good way to start. And then I think they run a lot of crazy stuff. They’ve got a good plan. We're gonna have to play really, really well to have a chance.”

He's apt to coach-speak, but the above should absolutely be what other D-coordinators are saying about our O, and they aren't.

There's a reason.

Just goes to show how debilitating bad offense line play is for a team. Makes it difficult to run the ball, which trickles down into managing TOP and field position. Not to mention being able to keep the offense on schedule and avoid 3rd and long situations. And when those passing downs come up, Sam is running for his life. It’s a minor miracle that he hasn’t gotten injured yet. He seems to be a pretty resilient dude in terms of taking big hits but anyone can get a leg rolled up or something like that.

The defense was terrible in the first half against VT, but across the span of four quarters they played well enough for the offense to have easily outscored VT, IF the o line play wasn’t horrendous. Given the fact that they weren’t getting much push against Ga State, it could be a long year. Have to hope that Anderson is back soon and his return makes a huge difference.

I’m not exactly an expert on o-line play, but it seems to me like Mack needs to be looking to move in a different direction. Which is a nice way of saying that Searles needs to get canned. The unit isn’t undersized. They’re just playing soft and unorganized. That tells me the coaching is substandard.

The craziest thing about the OL is that they looked pretty good vs A&M without Michael Carter and Javonte. I know we've missed ONE starter in each of the games so far, but it feels like something else is amiss.
