Let's get honest and realistic folks. As long as Roy is head coach the chances of signing OAD caliber players (i.e. Top 20 players) are slim and none. Not saying it is impossible, and it is possible that UNC may luck up and sign one in a given year, but the chances are remote as it stands in the current recruiting environment. Take a kid like PJ Washington where Roy starting recruiting the kid when he was in the 9th grade and PJ openingly admitting that Roy recruited him harder than anyone. Then the kid signs with Kentucky and states that he could only imagine playing with Kentucky in the 7th grade. Could Roy had worked any harder folks? Nope.

Felton is not OAD. Most likely two and done. Please keep in mind that there is only about 22 USA #1 NBA slots each year. European players will feel approximately 8 spots each year.

So, for the Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and Arizona fans, here is my confession. Your coaches have a lock on the OAD players and it will continue in the foreseeable future. Yes, handlers are involved in many cases, but not the only factor. Please, please...none of this "UNC recruits the same players". Yes, UNC does, but a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. UNC fans, please don't take this as a knock on Roy. He is just not the OAD type and there is nothing wrong with that. Also, Roy simply is not going to showcase a OAD type for the NBA. So, speaking for myself ONLY, I will concede the OAD type to the 4 teams mentioned above for the next several years. I'm hopeful that Roy focuses on the second tier (2-4 year solid players) who can start as early as their sophomore years.

A starting line-up next year of the following players could make the final 32:

Felton (5-star)
Williams
Robinson
Pinson (5 star)
Bradley (5-star)

Throw in a solid 4 (not on the current roster) into Robinson slot and the Heels could be looking at an Elite 8.

HERE IS THE KEY GOING FORWARD: Having battle tested sophomores, juniors and seniors can win you a NCAA title. It may happen this year. It almost happened last year.

The way I look at it, the Heels are one player away from being at least an Elite 8 team for the next several years. Again, need to find solid player to feel the 4 spot (that is not on the current roster) to start at the 4 spot next year. Could that be Manley or a junior-college transfer?
