Here be dragons
Nominate your choices for best and worst bands/musicians beginning with the letter N.

These are fairly easy for me. Let the battle begin.

Best: Nirvana
HM: Willie Nelson

Worst: Nickelback
HM: Nelly

If I need to mention which category, then lord have mercy on your soul....

Nine Inch Nails
N.W.A.
Nazareth
Notorious B.I.G.

As for Nickelback, I'll say the same thing I said about Creed. I don't understand all of the hate. I'm not going to put them on the best list, but I wouldn't put them on the worst list either.

You haven't put ANYBODY on your worst list as far as I can tell.
I've made it clear that I don't like Bieber and 99% of country music. Music has always been a big part of my life, so it's hard for me to say I hate a band/artist. Even though I don't like someone like Garth Brooks, doesn't mean I can't appreciate the art of the music itself. Not everyone can just sit down and write a song or play an instrument. You have to at least have some talent. Unfortunately some chose to waste that talent on things like country music.

Nirvana
Nonpoint
Neil Young
NIN

I haven't put anyone on the worst list, because I really don't care. There are 2 bands that belong. One is N and one is P

Nickleback.

Because people like to fit in, so everybody says "omg!!111! Nickelback is the worst!!!11!!!!"

When in reality, they can't name 4 Nickelback songs. Classic group think / follow the herd mentality

I'm actually there with cory on Nirvana. I wouldn't call them the worst, but I don't own one single song of theirs and 9 times out of 10, when they come on the radio, I'm changing the station. I get their influence and whatnot but I just never found their music all that good. I don't find much of the grunge rock era to be very good but definitely not them.

To be fair, a lot of people that hate certain musicians couldn't name 4+ of their songs. I don't disagree with your point, but it applies to a lot more than Nickelback.

That probably has a lot to do with it. I think it being overplayed on the radio has a lot to do with it as well. Just like Creed when they first blew up, you couldn't go more than 5 minutes without hearing a Nickelback song on the radio.

That is indeed the biggest factor. I know from experience. I loathe that Bruno Mars fellow now because of the airplay he gets. And I actually think he's kind of a neat artist. He definitely has worked hard on getting a sound that is unlike anyone else today. But I want to shoot myself in the face when that newest song of his comes on the radio. And my kids love it so I'm usually stuck listening to it.

One of the many benefits of being single is not being subjected to the awful music of significant others and children.

I actually really like Bruno Mars but I agree, they play him a lot. Taylor Swift gets a ton of airplay as well. I will flip around and there will be 4 stations playing 4 different Swift songs at the same time

Commercial radio is horrible. Say what you will about public radio, but it offers immensely better breadth and depth of music.

I just think their music sucks. There was so much 'grunge' or whatever that was so much better. I like Grohl though.

I mean, the 'Singles' soundtrack alone is better than a collection of the best Nirvana songs by a mile.

Best- New Riders of the Purple Sage
Worst- New Kids on the Block

You're my new hero!
I was going to mention New Riders, but you beat me to it!
Saw them in Atlanta in '74, loved them! Panama Red!!
Will add Randy Newman
