I have the BIG JAMBOX by Jawbone who has recently gone out of business. The Bluetooth element in it stopped working a couple months ago and now the speaker wire connector has broken off inside, so it's time for a new speaker.
The one thing about the BIG JAMBOX that I didn't like was the popping sound it often made in wireless mode, similar to the noise of an old LP record. After checking out online forums I learned that the popping could be eliminated by going into Bluetooth preferences and lowering the volume output there, but that sort of defeats the purpose.
I love the SONOS but I want something more portable that doesn't always rely on wi-fi.
I like the UE BOOM and the Bose (jcolucci or RH, is that the SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker II?), and I'm wondering if these Bluetooth devices present a similar problem with this popping noise when going wireless?
