Let's have a Board meeting!
Here's a chance for msg board peeps to meet in person. Let's get together right after Xmas and go watch Kevin Knox play in the holiday tournament in Raleigh . Might add to the ambiance around here and we can show the light blue colors to Knox and company. There will probably be other players there UNC is interested in and it would be a chance to put faces on these screen names we've been talking to.
I know many don't live in the area, I'm 3.5 hours away myself but there is also the Monmouth game in Chapel Hill during that time period which might attract some of you. Come a day early and meet your TI friends in person. Anyone interested?

Good question. On Knox's high school website it says Dec 27-29th and UNC vs Monmouth is the 28th if I remember correctly. I can't find a website for the tournament as yet. There is another HS tournament in Raleigh the week before Xmas with Felton, Zion Williamson, and others in the mix but not Tampa Catholic.
Anyone got any other info? I think it was held at Broughton HS last year.

I would LOVE to, problem is the way I work, I have to be available 7 days right now, I do not have any back up to cover when I can not be available. Working on some things to change that reality but for now I have a problem going out of town.

Tell you what I would love to do when (not if) I get the opportunity, I would love for a group of us to surprise Mikey by showing up at his place with food and drink and enjoy a game with him!

Its been held at Broughton and Reynolds Coliseum for decades: I played for Broughton in the Holiday Tourney against Adrian Branch (I'm 52, lol) so I love it!

I am always down for hanging with true Tar Heels!

What made me think of this was I was going through some boxes in the garage and found the program for the 2002 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. I was a member of Ben Sherman's board at that time and many of us met up and attended the tournament together.
This was the spring before Raymond Felton's senior year of HS and the finals between Ray's team and one containing Shav Randolph, J J Redick and a dookie big who's name I forget (transferred after one yr in Durham) was called "the greatest AAU game ever played" by Bob Gibbons himself. Raymond led a furious 2nd half comeback in the Dean Dome from a 20 point deficit to tie in regulation and win it in OT. Its one of my most valued bb memories. They were triple teaming Raymond on inbounds plays. Keeping him from getting the ball was the only way they could stop him from scoring.
I even met Clint that weekend although I'm sure he doesn't remember having breakfast with Ben, I, and several other board members.
There were other good players there as well. Guy named Lebron something who skipped college played, David Noel and Ray Terry as well, but the best player that weekend and it wasn't close was Lenny Cook. He was amazing!!

I was at that game with some true Tar Heel friends! We loved to see Ray Ray get in that punk JJ's head. They both scored a great deal, but Ray had the last laugh and at times toyed with punky's pitiful D. Bob Gibbon's tourney sure had some great memories!
