Box Score . .

Don't know how much of it was Pitt just not being very good, I think it was partially that, but we played significantly better ourselves. Theo and Joel were looking to get others involved early and often and it paid dividends. And we got significant contributions from our bench, Garrison and Sterling with 20 points, 3 boards, 3 steals, 1 assist, and 1 block in 25 minutes. Andrew and Brandon chipped in 4 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists in 20 minutes.

Just what the doctor ordered. And now that we've seen that d00k can be beaten by a very average team that had lost 11 in a row, let's duplicate that on Thursday.

Love seeing those assist numbers. 8 from Theo and he could've had a couple of more as Dean use to say "That's an assist the way we keep it." Joel-6, Luke-5, and Cam-4 are also great assist numbers, it goes to show you that we have 4 very unselfish and capable passers, there is no reason why we shouldn't constantly have the ball moving. That can be a winning formula for us.

16 assists on 18 made field goals in the first half and 29 on 36 for the game, 2 Thumbs up!. It goes to show you how much better things flow offensively when the ball is constantly moving and there is more of an emphasis on making the extra pass, it gives you some much more of a balanced scoring attack as we had 6 guys in double figures and also 42 points in the paint.

K3nny- 3/5 from long range, this was very much a game that he needed to get some confidence back.

Good production from the bench tonight (which we need to continue) too, 27 bench points as Garrison and Sterling gave us 10 points each was a great boost.

Even though we know Pitt doesn't have that post presence like other teams, Joel hit on it perfectly saying that the team and coach's trust in them is starting to increase and it is showing as their minutes have increased and our guys are starting to look and give them more touches in the post.

Hustle plays like these always add up, LOVE IT!!! Great effort and energy from our guys yesterday, this was one of three times that we hit the deck for loose balls, we all know that puts a big smile on Ol' Roy's face.

Couldn't agree more with what Frank said.

With all the unselfish passers we have, there is no excuse for some of the poor ball movement we've seen recently. Couple good ball movement with constant player movement and it will consistently lead to good shots. In our big wins, we've rebounded very well and moved the ball crisply, making the extra pass. That has resulted in higher shooting percentages because we've gotten better looks. In our losses, lack of ball and player movement has resulted in poorer quality shots. It really isn't rocket science.

If we rebound ferociously, get good ball and player movement, shoot a decent percentage, and defend decently, we can hang with anybody.

IMO, there are only 4-5 really good teams out there: UVA, Villanova, Purdue, MSU, and d00k(on a good day). Everybody else can lose to just about anybody else on a given day.

Love seeing that hustle on defense! Garrison hit the floor twice to make the play. He played with more toughness and confidence yesterday than he has all year. Theo rifled a couple of passes to him in traffic and he caught them sure-handedly and scored. He and Sterling are going to comprise a very nice front court their Junior and Senior years.

I think Roy knows he is going to need Garrison and Sterling down the stretch if we're to make any kind of run. We need them to contribute Thursday.

I thought Garrison in particular played well. He's going to be a really great player for us. It's very nice to have a big who defends ball screens so well.

I totally agree. That was the case at the beginning of the year and we were so much more successful. Even if we don’t move as well without the ball, being able to move the ball effectively and make the extra pass compensates for it. Luke is the biggest benefitor of this ball movement as he really gets going as he is able to get to spots. Theo definitely makes our ball movement a lot better with his great vision as he is constantly looking to make the next pass.

We still need to do a better job of valuing the basketball, I get that there are going to be turnovers, but some of them are just unforced and unnecessary. With the upperclassmen that we have, they need to cut down on these and make a better effort there.

In regards to rebounding, we need to be able to move the ball/kick it out more off of rebounds, if we can’t go right back up for the easy score. What I would love to see is kick outs to the corner for an open three because I always feel that the corner is a spot to take advantage off of a rebound as the defenses collapses into the paint to get the rebound. There is also nothing wrong with resetting and getting an extra possession.

We did a good job of converting second chance points yesterday with 22 points, which is a step in the right direction. The effort that we put on hitting the glass, there is no reason why we shouldn’t have a fair share of second chance points. I look to Sterling as the guy to do this for us, he has great hands and with his size he just needs to keep it high and go up strong. As he gets stronger and is able to get better positioning, he wil be one heck of a force on the boards.

Yes, I have seen a lot more energy and confidence from Garrison. I remember Roy taking him out of a game early in the season when he didnt’t hit the floor for a loose ball, ever since that game, he has done so without hesitation which I think is a great representation of who he is as a player. The move for him to come in off the bench really has slowed the game down for him. I was impressed in particular yesterday at how good of positioning he was getting on the low block and was actively looking for the ball. Also, he is a great at setting screens, he did a nice job of doing that in the Clemson game which gave Joel some room to operate and get going. This will be important against Duke as Joel will need to be able to hit that pull up jumper he loves and is so great at.

For the young bigs, trust is key. Having our guards see that they can trust them is the most important part as we can now get some more touches in the post. It really shows how much more things open up for us offensively when we can get the ball in the post.

I guess Seventh didn't get in the game last night...

Might be another week or two before we see him, as Coach is very cautious returning a player after an injury, and Seventh has only just begun practicing again.

I can't wait tho . .
