LMAO6'7" pure shooter at SF sounds like a good pickup to me. I'd like to see some video first, but I like how active we are!

He looks better than nickel? How does that look, exactly? I guess being the all-time scoring leader in the state of Virginia doesn't mean very much these days.1. He plays at one of the best HS programs in America.
2. He plays against great competition.
3. He has a great attitude about being a team player and hard work.
4. He has to get in the weight room but most HS kids need that.
5. He looks better than Nickel at the same stage.
He's off his rocker. He in no way looks better than Nickel did a year ago in his videos. Dunlap looks like he would get pushed around in practice by our walk-on forwards. He looks better than nickel? I haven't seen Dunlap play. Seeing highlight videos are biased. They're not going to have videos of his mistakes. He's off his rocker. He in no way looks better than Nickel did a year ago in his videos. Dunlap looks like he would get pushed around in practice by our walk-on forwards.
Nickel, Shaver,McKoy, and Garcia were all Hubert recruits as head coach.I haven't seen Dunlap play. Seeing highlight videos are biased. They're not going to have videos of his mistakes.
But, we DO know Nickel is the all-time leading scorer in VA high school basketball history. I dunno if that was a fluke, but... I doubt it. And, I believe Nickel was a Hubert Davis recruit. And, the kid bails after just one season? To me, that's not a good look.
It will be if you park guys on the bench, ala Kay.Without any facts to the contrary, I am inclined to think positively about our coaches and their adherence to the Carolina Way. Unfortunately, trends in this new world indicate that this will become the norm!
If the last two years are any indication, you better be in the top 7-8 if you expect Hubert Davis to allow you to get off the bench. And even those players 6-8 get inconsistent minutes.OK, so this is really confusing? Last I heard UNC Fans universally realized how badly this team needs an injection of shooters that make shots. Now we have an offer out to a 6'7.5" 2 guard that is a knock down jump shooter and he is being down graded, shade thrown because he is not an amazing athlete?
I mean you look at the portal and big time programs are reaching out to guys that were 3 stars before they got to college that still can't shoot? I still recall the infamous words "If Luke Maye EVER starts a game for us we are in trouble", do you remember? A line that I have enjoyed David Sisk say several times about recruiting, you don't look at the kid as he is today, you look to what he may be 2years from now. What I see, in a VERY VERY LIMITED look, the type of look I really do not trust (highlite clips) is a kid that really needs to physically mature, I don't like his feet from the clips, and I suspect he is not ever going to wow with athletic play. But I as well suspect that if he does come to us he would be in the pecking order the last scholly guy on the bench, meaning scholarship #13 on a limit of 13 that can be given. Remind me again the last time a UNC team went 13 deep for any PT that mattered? So why not take a flyer on him and see how he develops, what is the worst that can happen, he enters the portal at some point, Will Shaver anyone? LOL
So why worry about scholly #13, right? LOLIf the last two years are any indication, you better be in the top 7-8 if you expect Hubert Davis to allow you to get off the bench. And even those players 6-8 get inconsistent minutes.
He won't visit until the end of April. Is Hubbie slow playing him (hoping to get better player) or is he slow playing the Hubster (UNC not being particularly attractive to him right now)?I expect bench usage requires a measure of trust in addition to a simple desire to develop players. If I give peeps a plan of action that will lead to more PT and they refuse or are unable to show any progress, then I do a disservice to the team to play them! I must take a chance on losing to ensure there is accountability in practice! I must also consider that if I can't play my bench players due to this lack of trust and others on the bench are injured or coming off injuries, my bench becomes even shorter than I want. This is a perfectly sound analysis of what happened with Caleb and the bench. I have seen Hubs as a player work on his limitations so hard that he became a valuable piece of a winning pro team, even though he started as a marginal player that wasn't deemed worthy of a scholly. Why would this person lose the ability to reflect and work on weaknesses?
Dunlap is a shooter that needs to work on other areas of his game. This is the type of player that is perfect for our needs. He can provide a + skill in spots; provide continuity as he grows; and can develop into a leadership role in a few years! And DES and Roy would have to change some of the things the often did in this new world!

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? IN basketball terms, which came first the freshman player that comes in with a singular skill that sets him apart from others or the developed player that still uses that special skill but has worked to improve his weaknesses. Had Dean Smith been like so many I have read making comments about this kid, Hubert Davis would have NEVER played for UNC. Dean did not think Hubert could play at the ACC level but Dean gave Hubert a chance.I expect bench usage requires a measure of trust in addition to a simple desire to develop players.
