Rashad and PJ also picked UK
Not saying that at all. But he's basically new to ESPN and I think everyone would expect him to pick UNC. But by not picking them to win it all it gives the impression that he can be objective, which is important if he wants to continue on this path. Doesn't matter if it's in the first round or the championship game. I think as long as he doesn't pick UNC to win it all it helps him from a perception standpoint. So picking the #1 seed to beat a #4 seed could be seen as not being objective? How so?
Fair enough Rob. But if he's done it for perception and UNC goes on to win it all, how does that make him look as an "analyst"? After all, aren't they paid to provide insight and to have a good grasp on what is most likely to happen? Not saying that at all. I don't have a problem with this. He wouldn't keep his job very long if he picked UNC for every single thing. Technically, he's now a media member and should try to stay objective to get respect from fans outside of just UNC.
I just wanna know who called B. Haywood a UNC Great? He was a UNC OK player. Who is now on my sh@t list !
He was a great player at UNC, no doubt. TBS, I'm very glad he was wrong. I think IU is a better TEAM than UK, not talent wise, but synergistically. They'll be tough but if we play defense like we have been, I likes our chances! While you might not consider him GREAT, you are undercutting him by saying he is an OK player. Dude is the all time leader in FG % (.637) and Blocks (304) at Carolina. He also is top 5 in most games played in UNC history. He almost shot 70% one season from the field (191 - 274). He also has the record for most blocks in a season with 120, averaging more than 3.64 blocks a game(120 in 33 games). He also has a 10 block game against Miami in 2000.
I'd say all of this makes him more than "OK".
Good point.... imagine him turning up for a summer pickup game at the Hill now..... esp if Rasheed is there!no problem girls/guys...the pro alums, the ex- player alums will never let him forget it !!!
Not arguing his record but he's already fluffed his first outing as a tournament tipster.Smh some of yall need to chill. First he was more then an ok player at unc. His jersery is in the rafters if you didn't know. Second, I don't see nothing wrong with him saying this. Doesn't make him less of a heel.

Finally the voice of reason chimes in. This is equally as stupid as when a bunch of Braves fans called Chipper Jones a traitor when he picked the Dodgers to beat the Braves in the NLDS a few years back.Smh some of yall need to chill. Haywood gave his opinion/thoughts on what was going to happen. Any of y'all who think less of him now because of it. don't understand how the world of sports media works, and frankly the responses in this thread embarrass me.
Go back and watch Hubert Davis on Gameday. I bet he picked against Carolina once or twice. Do y'all hate him too?
LolWhy would Haywood call out Coach K? I thought we already decided in this thread to excommunicate him from the Tar Heel church.
Pick a #4 seeded UK team against the #1 seeded UNC? Really? I wounder how the current players and coaches feel about his support. Its his choice and he is a grown man trying to keep a job - I get all that. I just can't comprehend a Tar Heel betting against the Tar Heels.
His argument would have real weight if Carolina had squeezed into the tournament as a 16 seed and Kentucky was #1 overall. Just to be clear, I would still pick Carolina every-single-time, but that's just me being a fan(atic). IMO he sold out at the request of CBS producers/managers.
Go Heels! Beat Indy!
Bump until we win it all.
