Following his 39-point, 23-rebound performance in UNC's 106-90 win at FSU on Monday night:
Question: Brice, can you put this game into perspective?
Answer: Man, I can’t really put this in to perspective, it was a great night for me, I think my teammates did their best down there. I mean, it was a team effort tonight, we were struggling for a little bit there and those guys were starting to get a little hot from behind 3s so we did what he had to do.
Question: Brice, when you score 39 points on the road against and ACC opponent does it matter if you’re in the rhythm or getting good looks or everything is going in and going right?
Answer: Like I said, we were struggling, I was just in the right place at the right time. When our guards were driving they had some great spacing, we were just able to put it up on the board and make some easy shots.
Question: Were you aware of what you were doing, were you aware of your stats?
Answer: I was looking at the rebounds, I kept telling myself I wanted more to join me, it’s always been a goal of mine. One game I had 16 and I wanted 4 more so I asked coach “coach can I stay in and get 4 more?!” When I was able to get more than 20 that’s always a goal. I don’t really care about the points, I just wanted to win. Like I said, we were struggling and those guys were really playing hard making some big time shots, we just needed our spark.
Question: Brice, you set career highs 3 times since Kennedy (Kennedy Meeks) went out, what’s kind of been you mindset?
Answer: Just filling the void, he’s a great scorer for us, we do miss him a little bit but at the same time we have some guys that can step up, being a senior I have to be one of the leaders of this team and step up in big time games like this, it’s just something I need to do. If it takes me scoring 39 points and 23 rebounds to win I’ll take it, if 3 points and 9 rebounds like last game, we won, I’ll take it. It’s just whatever you need me to do, I can step up at a time like that, I’ll do it.
