I was just looking through some tourney "guru" insights and saw this on USA Today here http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ent-march-madness-sweet-16-rankings/99372608/ .

Then as I read on down to the UNC at #8 I saw this and my heart soared !!

► X-Factor player: Kennedy Meeks. The junior big man saved the day for UNC against Arkansas with a crucial tip-in that turned the tide of the game. His 16 points and 11 rebounds are the type of numbers Roy Williams needs for the rest of the tournament.

Kennedy is gonna be one helluva a player in his second senior year.

Only thing worse than the idiots that print their "expert" opinions in a national paper are the people that hired 'em.

God this is bad.

Want no part of Kansas though...they are GREAT.

Games last night...wow...the 'Zona loss wasn't that bad but the WVU ending was just sad, discombobulated is a compliment. What was Huggins thinking? They just ran their scramble with no spacing or movement, a few passes when they had time but good grief....

It would have been nice if Huggins had a timeout to work with at the end of the game. Not sure it would have mattered since they don't run specific sets on offense.

Kansas looked super-legit last night. Our best game wouldn't have beaten them. But we'll see how they're playing when we get to them...if they can make it there.

Think of the match ups for a KU/UNC game: Berry-Mason is insane. Jackson-Jackson is pretty damn good too. You can make the argument that KU is better in both of those match ups. But our bigs are way, way better.

Yeah ....beating 2 B1G teams by an average of 25 points is a bit scary.

Our best game beats anybody in this tournament.

I agree. I think Kansas has proven all year they are the best team. That doesn't mean we can't beat them but they are the best team in the field. Like you said, our frontcourt is definitely better but their backcourt is on another level.

The Mason/Berry matchup is one I've wanted to see all year.

I have not wavered in my belief that we are one of the top contenders for the title. We looked bad at IU, bad at GT and even after the duke losses, I maintained faith and saw our potential. But if KU plays like that the rest of the way, I do not believe they will lose despite how well we play. Individual games are all about match ups and I do like that we could beat them up inside. But Josh Jackson is playing at such a high level and Frank mason is POY. Self's team has become a monster at the right time.

They are playing their best for sure.
I'm hoping we are about to do the same. We're gonna need it starting tonight.

I actually like the marquee KU match-ups --- JB/Mason, Jackson/Jackson --- and our Bigs' advantage. It's some of their other guys that would worry me more.

Eh, that big guy on Kansas really shut down Biggie down low last night. He can D up.

I think we'd stick Theo on Jackson, and Justin on Graham.

I disagree. Our best game is good enough to beat any of the remaining teams, the operative word being "best". But we have to beat a Butler team that beat both Villanova and Xavier twice. They also beat Arizona, Marquette, and Indiana. If we don't bring our "A game", we'll be headed home. I can't even begin to think about UK or UCLA, let alone KU.

Yeah, Lucas is a good defender, though he can get into foul trouble at times. I assume Mykhailiuk would be guarding Hicks because I don't think Self would start Bragg or Azubuike. Still, lot of ball to be played before we even have to worry about that.

Yeah, that's a crazy percentage but they have been one of the top 3pt shooting teams in the country all year. It is probably unreasonable to expect them to have a bad shooting night from out there.

I don't know..... MAYBE when they get to Arizona. I know they played pretty well on the road in the Big 12... and even finally lost a conference game at home this year......
but I can't imagine any team anywhere getting a nicer home court advantage than they have had.... probably 80+% of the fans were/are rabid Jayhawk fans, for their first four games.

We have the length on our perimeter to prevent 54% from 3. You can't play your best against a D that matches up really well and I believe we have that. I think UNC v KU would be a dogfight and we have the Nastiest Dog! (Not to mention the horses and the beef!) TP and JJ can switch off guarding Jackson and JB can hold down Mason if the ankle is healed by then; if not we handle him by committee.

BUT: We have a significant challenge in front of us tonight and I expect us to play closer to our best from now on! Our best is better than everyone else's best, especially since our best includes intense D!

Beat Butler!
Go Tar Heels!

Kansas looks really damn good right now. Scary good frankly. Helps they are playing with Josh Jackson which is about as slimy as they come especially after the kids attorney got caught trying to pay off the girl and her parents to be quiet......
