The Bucs made their first big splash in free agency on Wednesday afternoon, getting former Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter to sign a four-year deal. He's expected to step in as the team's new middle linebacker, replacing Mason Foster.
Carter, 27, had five interceptions with the Cowboys in 2014, with 32 starts in his four years in Dallas. He has size and speed at 6-foot-1, 230 pounds, and was a second-round draft pick out of North Carolina in 2011.
Carter's deal is worth $20.5-millon over four years, according to his agent, Joby Branion. Branion also represents Titans defensive end Derrick Morgan, who was expected in Tampa to meet with the Bucs on Wednesday night after meeting earlier with the Falcons.
