“We’ve notified the NCAA enforcement staff that in the course of responding to the Notice of Allegations we were given on May 20, we’ve identified two new pieces of information that require further review.
“The first piece of new information relates to improper academic assistance consistent with what was alleged in the Notice of Allegations that too much assistance was provided to some women’s basketball student athletes. The second piece of new information involves potential recruiting violations in the men’s soccer program that are completely unrelated to the Notice of Allegations.
“We are fully cooperating with the NCAA and continue to work with them to bring closure to this long and arduous process. We reported the new information to the NCAA Committee on Infractions on Aug. 10, as required by the infractions program, and we share the confidence that with the NCAA that this additional review can be concluded quickly and within 60 days to bring closure to the investigation.
“Upon receiving the results of this review, the NCAA staff will decide whether or not they are required to amend the Notice of Allegations and submit that to us. Should the Notice of Allegations be amended and submitted to the University of North Carolina, we will then have 90 days from that date to respond to the amended Notice of Allegations.”
