Buddy Hield

He said after the game that he got to the arena (for an 8pm home game) at 8 or 9 AM and stayed all day to shoot and get ready for the game. I get it that college bb is now his job bit it made me wonder "doesn't he have any classes / schoolwork? Does he spend 14 + hours each game day dedicated to basketball?"

Someone ought to call the N and O. I think They have a reporter, name escapes me, that looks into this type of thing.

Didn't Matt Leinart have dance appreciation or something as his only class senior year?

Guys, for athletes, they take summer classes. That's why most of them have already graduated or close to it by senior year 2nd semester. They are also much more structured (people literally choosing their classes for them to maximize their schedule) and attend study halls ALL the time. What Buddy is doing is not uncommon at all.

Yes and he danced his way into and out of the NFL. I think Hield will be a star in the NBA.

Agreed. First NBA check he cashes, he should get some dental / overbite work done. First thing I notice in a close-up of him.

Hield for my money would be the odds on favorite for NCAA POY. Kid has a fire in his belly that can not be denied.

And I just think it is a great story, in this day when so many leave so early for the NBA riches we have a senior that just worked on his game for 4yrs to get to the point where he is right now and where he is right now IMHO is one of the 1st 3 names picked in the next NBA draft, not a bad bet for #2 pick after Simmons. Brice is a similar story, 4yr guys that have got the max out of the teaching in the college game and now more NBA ready than they have ever been. These guys didn't hurt their draftabililty by playing their senior seasons in college, they improved it HUGE !

Agree 100%. I know we can't turn the tide on this, but any kid that sticks around 3-4 years and develops skills and maturity for the next level, I'm all for. I know they are looked at as "damaged goods - what's wrong with them that they weren't NBA ready at 19?". I HATE that point of view. Best of luck to him.

It would be a crock if anyone but Hield won the award. Frankly, at this point in the season it would be a crock of anyone but Hield got a vote. The guy is clutch and the best part about it all he is humble. His interview after the gut wrenching loss to KU was all I needed to see. He's everything any college basketball fan wants.

Good player on a good team. I've watched several of their (OU) games and he is "the real deal"...good athlete and a good basketball player. He would be a great addition to an NBA team.

IDK, the more guys see fellas like Hield and Brice dramatically improve their own draft stock combined with guys like JP and JMM dropping so far and not at least trying to improve their game, the tide could begin to turn.

Think about it, not to many years ago, if you would have suggested a team dominated by multiple freshmen would win the NCAAT, you would have been laughed out of the joint. But Ky did it and look at the perception today. Tides can change with enough proof of what is possible.
