Literally the only reason I stopped worrying about him decommitting was the quote from one of his coaches about how he'd always be loyal to Cardinal Hayes and UNC.
We need to start recruiting Boogie Fland again.

This is a glass half full/half empty situation for sure.Literally the only reason I stopped worrying about him decommitting was the quote from one of his coaches about how he'd always be loyal to Cardinal Hayes and UNC.
We need to start recruiting Boogie Fland again.
And our high school recruiting momentum seemed to stop back in January.UNC is UNC...
We need to start recruiting Boogie Fland again.
Did we stop?We need to start recruiting Boogie Fland again.
Well it stopped because we got the commit from Cadeau, this was before Cadeau reclassed and it was not a given at that time that Cadeau would reclass. That allowed others to get more involved as we quietly backed away. A factor now is Hubert really wants Peterson and the likelihood of a Peterson reclass is pretty strong. Both want to be PGs in college because they see that position as what their NBA positions would be.Did we stop?
Why?
We stopped recruiting Fland a while back.I thought I read that Fland announced his final 3 as Kentucky, Indiana, and Alabama? Was that a bogus report ?
No , but he eats buggers!I thought I read that Fland announced his final 3 as Kentucky, Indiana, and Alabama? Was that a bogus report ?
Why not both? If we lose RJ and Cadeau after this year, wouldn't both be ideal?I would love to have either, but it seems like Peterson is a better fit for what Hubs wants to do. If it comes down to a choice between the two, I would go with him. Fland is more of a scoring guard while Peterson appears to be equally adept at getting the ball to others! I used to hate reclassing, but it seems like it is another thing we might as well get used to. At least, I can count on the Tar Heels to consider the good of the student as well as the team!
Wilcher decommitting screws up the calculus as it was that was in place when this was going down, in the time just as Cadeau committed but before he elected to reclass. Simply put, it is not often a team can take their foot off the gas in a recruitment of a kid this highly rated and be able to pick it back up later on, others just have blown past you at that point. Why not both? If we lose RJ and Cadeau after this year, wouldn't both be ideal?
Giving us this backcourt (who am I forgetting?)
Seth
Ian
Fland
Peterson
Of course both RJ and Cadeau are eligible to return, but what if they don't?

You make good points. Why would RJ leave?
All I can tell you is that it isn't exactly a well kept secret that RJ has expressed this is his last season of college ball. Could that change, of course it can, people do at times change their minds. I as well agree, not likely RJ spends much time on a NBA roster, his money will come from across the pond. With a very successful season his NIL may look much better if he did come back, maybe that does it for him. I don't know, I am just speaking to how things look today. I do know RJ loves UNC, loves the school as much as the program, I would not see him transferring to some other college program. Things are just going to have to play out for us to really know what will happen. You make good points.
I don't actually expect him to leave. He'll have done the normal 4 years, and should have good overseas offers. He might just feel like it's time for a change. But the wife and NIL considerations could count for more.
It would be interesting to see what percentage of 5th-year eligible players exercise the option to stay in college.
It would also be interesting to know what percentage of those who stick around stay with the same school vs trying a change of scenery. I can imagine kids with their eye on a future coaching job might want to get a year in with a different coach.
Are kids with overseas options more likely to leave?
I should probably stop calling them "kids."
Wilcher or somebody else? Haven't been following recruiting that much recently.Literally the only reason I stopped worrying about him decommitting was the quote from one of his coaches about how he'd always be loyal to Cardinal Hayes and UNC.
