Captain marvel...

yeah, i really need to crap or get off the pot with these...i did enjoy civil war and one of the ironman movies, but that’s all i’ve seen.

If you appreciate comics, it's good to watch. Since most of marvel is tied around the events of avengers, it could make for some awesome binge watching. If comics are not your thing, then it's up in the air. Just start from the begining

I've read some articles saying some of the other actors in the MCU aren't happy with the direction Marvel is taking. Specifically talking about Captain Marvel and the movie.

People say it's starting to look like the new Star Wars movies. I've seen some of them, but I was never really a big comic book fan, so I don't enjoy most of them.

It's not necessarily the movie itself. The actors and even some of the higher ups don't like the casting and they are upset at how the character is being marketed. They also don't like the idea of her being the new leader of the next phase. They wanted a character who was already established in the other movies.

It probably isn't helping that she's running around insulting the fan base. Disney's already done this with the Star Wars franchise.

Eh, the other actors probably agree with her since Hollywood usually feels the same way about those things. Their issue seems to be solely based on the planning of the MCU.

The studio has already called it a "feminist" movie, but I do agree with you that they all live in a bubble out there and think they know better than the fans. Storytelling is starting to suffer for the sake of virtue signaling. Honestly, I wasn't going to see it either way, so I'm not their target demographic.

I've cut bait on all Hollywood movies. Haven't seen a movie in a theater in years. Hollywood's values and mine are 180 degrees opposed.

I hear ya!

ONLY movies I have seen in theaters the last 3-4 years are one my childhood friend and college roomie wrote, produced, financed and acted in himself (limited release, mostly local and now on Amazon Prime) because I wanted to support him and 2 at Christmas this year. Wife had major surgery day after Christmas, so she wanted to go see Mary Poppins on Christmas Day. We got there late and the first showing was sold out, so we saw The Mule (Good, but not Clint's best movie) and then went to see Mary Poppins at the next showing. I was pleasantly surprised by Mary Poppins. Not as good as the original, but still good and none of the crap Hollyweird likes to push down our throats in movies nowadays.

Since I am a white male, the lead of Captain Marvel has said my opinion doesn't count anyway, so I guess she already knows my money won't be needed to make it successful. I will gladly oblige her and not go see it.
