Why does it matter. We stink. The ACC stinks, and is going to fall apart soon enough. 18 teams stretching to Texas and California. As soon as the GoR gets broken we'll leave and so will several other schools.

Oates literally helped a player cover up their involvement in a murder.

Dave you think Roy being in the same boat at Oates and Alabama that year would act any differently? I don’t, he was asked several questions, answered to defend his not proven guilty player, and played and stuck up for his kid. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a bama fan or even an Oates fan, but he can coach and coach well. I’ve been to several of their practices in the past few years and it’s crazy what they get done in a small amount of time. And yes they are all about analytics which definitely translates into days game, and it shows. A few guys here hate anything Alabama and I get it, they love other schools not just NC btw. But, jealousy kills especially when that team dominates something. lol they cheat, they’re dirty, they don’t do it the right way. BS. Back on my question though, I really do think he was just taking up for his player. He didn’t lie that we know of. He went with what he knew. One guilty guy who was good btw was kicked off the team, and one who was “there”. Meh doesn’t sound egregious to me.

I have the solution to our problems.

We've only been losing to good teams.

Clearly we just need to stop playing so many good teams.

And the good news is that with the ACC looking like a dumpster fire - except for Duke, apparently - we won't have that many good teams to face once we get into conference play.

I don't disagree but we shouldn't be this bad our game philosophy is terrible. In the last 6 games we have seen exactly 1 pass into the post.

Over the last 4 games, Cadeau has as many turnovers as assists.

This plus RJs slump in shooting has really killed this team, that needs to rely on guards and can expect absolutely nothing from the front court.

I agree and a tough decision for sure. RJ can’t throw a beach ball in the ocean, and EC has as many turnovers as assists with practically no points. Seth can dominate at times but has hit some sort of funk. I though the lineup of RJ,Seth,Ian,drake, and any big lol looked pretty good during the first half.

The problem is down low imo. No one has to be double teamed or pressured to pass or even worried about. Also We have to have EC and RJ playing good or at least serviceable to win and go anywhere. Not one or the other.

There is a similar problem to the 1994 year. We have less talented people playing ahead of more talented Freshmen. As much as RJ has done (and will get his jersey in the rafters), his chucking so many bad shots hurts the team and his minutes hurt Jackson. Jackson has a higher ceiling and is more efficient. We have to find a way to win without a quality post presence...and this is likely 4 guards. With that approach you can't have bad shots because you don't have quality bigs to rebound and score on the miss.

Against tournament-bound teams (where we have a 1-4 record) EC is 25:18 - for a 1.4:1 A:TO ratio.

Why? Is it something he's doing wrong? Is it a coaching problem?

How do we fix this?

Does anyone have stats on alley-oops? We have some good targets - tall guys and leapers - but I don't think we go for that scoring option very often. Should we?

Right but the purpose of the pass into the post isn't to necessarily score from it with the guy you pass it to but to change how the defense moves to get better looks on a kick out.

I wpuld bet everything that if Roy was still coaching we would at least involve the post as a part of our movement, and we would be a better team.

It would open up some better looks from 3 and would help the guards on drives where the pass into the post could be used to get the ball to wings cutting.

What we are doing now don't work guards driving into the trees and trying to shoot or make layup over them is not going to work.

Teams have change there defense to just keep a rim protector at the rim to defend it.
