CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Diamond Heels continue their nine-game homestand Tuesday night at Boshamer Stadium against in-state foe Charlotte beginning at 6 p.m.

North Carolina, ranked in the top 20 in each of this week's major polls, owns a 24-12 overall record, including an 18-8 record at home. Charlotte is 19-15 overall and 7-6 on the road.

The Tar Heels defeated the 49ers 16-3 in Charlotte earlier this season. UNC racked up 17 hits, including three home runs and seven doubles. Tomas Frick and Colby Wilkerson each collected three hits, and Vance Honeycutt drove in five, knocking in four with a second inning grand slam.

Frick leads the ACC with a career-high 17 doubles and is third in RBIs with a team-best 41. Honeycutt has drawn more walks (39) than any other player in the league, and his 16 stolen bases are second-most behind Clemson's Cam Cannarella with 17.

North Carolina is 2-2 on its current homestand, defeating Queens a week ago and then walking off Miami in game two of its three-game ACC Coastal Division series Saturday. Charlotte enters the game on a five-game winning streak following its three-game sweep of Rice over the weekend.

The 49ers are led by sophomore Cam Fisher, who ranks fourth nationally with 17 home runs. He ranks seventh among all NCAA Division I players with a .856 slugging percentage. He also leads the team in batting average (.381) and RBIs (40).

Well we picked up the W but I would be real interested to see if 19 men LOB is a record in a 9 inning ballgame??

Could possibly be a record, inability to move runners ahead is becoming an issue with this team.
