That's why you shouldn't give much weight to a commitment so far out. Too many kids change their mind at that age.Ritchey switches his commitment from UNC to State 11 days after committing to the Heels. He's committed twice in less than two weeks and doesn't sign for another 2 years.
Agreed. Just think it's funny it's to State, 11 days after he went on a UNC show and gushed about UNC.That's why you shouldn't give much weight to a commitment so far out. Too many kids change their mind at that age.
Exact comparison I mentioned in a discussion with someone. From the get go with Wilson I felt he would be a better fit culturally at State similiar to how I have felt about some of the guys UNC has gotten in these head to head recruiting matchups. In the end, that is exactly what Wilson has spoken about on numerous occassions. I have had the same feeling when it comes to Ritchie as I have followed his recruitment the last year. Some kids get caught up in the moment and different enviroments at these various recruiting events and commit on the spot and then after they are back in their normal day to day environments, they realize that maybe they made a choice in the moment rather than one that may be where they feel they are the best long term fit. UNC always gets a lot of talented prospects and next year will be no different. In these head to head battles, UNC will land some guys that State wanted and State will land some guys that UNC wanted. It's up to the respectiv staffs to then develop the guys they get and get the most out of them on the field. Is this a Payton Wilson type thing?
Ive also read somewhere that Ritchey wants a shot from day 1 to play TE and that NCSU has recruited him that way while UNC has just recruited him for D.Exact comparison I mentioned in a discussion with someone. "Ritchey told me during the spring that Mack Brown gave him the position choice, which is what Mack has done with prior recruits (e.g. Jefferson Boaz, Caleb Hood, etc.), and Ritchey chose defensive line; and, per my sources, UNC viewed him as an "athlete" with a lean toward defensive line -- the staff wasn't dead set on D-line."
"Mack Brown gave Ritchey the position choice and Ritchey -- not Mack -- chose DL. Consequently, if Ritchey suddenly switched his position preference to TE, I'm sure he'd know he could call Mack and ask him. There are plenty of recent examples of Mack giving a player the power to choose his collegiate position (e.g. Jefferson Boaz, Caleb Hood, etc.). Heck, D.J. Jones this offseason asked Mack for a position switch and it was granted."
Regardless, do we really think that Ritchey changed his position preference in 11 days? And that it was such a big deal that he needed to switch his commitment?
That is from someone that has been covering his recruitment for a long time.
Ritchey was given the option to play both positions.Ive also read somewhere that Ritchey wants a shot from day 1 to play TE and that NCSU has recruited him that way while UNC has just recruited him for D.
Would you trust Tim Cross to best develop your talents?
