Personally and I think most Tar Heel fans agree, we have been over ranked pre-season for the last 2 or 3 years, I actually don't think we are over ranked this time. Yeah, I do have some questions, in other words I don't see us like Ky fans saw Ky last season, but I do like the potential answers to my questions.
Now we for sure have had a run of bad luck, PJ issues, Bullock leaving un-expectedly, JMM leaving sooner than expected, and of course injury that limited Paige and pretty much all our PGs other than Britt last season. This of course all in addition to the NCAA cloud that seems to never go away. JP leaving early was also un-expected but IMO will not hurt nearly as bad as maybe not having a PJ/JMM/Bullock leave sooner than expected.
Law of averages says extended periods of bad luck get evened out by extended periods of good luck and lord knows we are due.
We went for nearly a month last season and all we could do at practice was shoot arounds and some one on one work because every PG we had other than Britt was injured. We went in to last season with 5 PGs that would all start for many D-1 programs and 4 of those 5 could not run in practice for over a month. It caught up with us is the simple fact, as the season gets on you have to practice to keep up with everyone else and we were just not able to do that. IMO we were absolutely one of the 5 best teams in the county in Dec, duke wasn't, we were but the lack of practice killed us and we never really recovered. Point is stuff happens during the season that is not expected and we have had some historic runs of bad luck.
If we can stay healthy this season I feel strongly we are one of the top 3 teams in the country, we will lose a game or 2 we shouldn't, we always do but this team healthy has a great shot to cut down the final nets.
