finally made it,,,,for my recent 70th birthday my son has gotten tickets for me and him in the Dean Smith Center. Been waiting on this for years as i have never attened a game in the Smith Center. We will be coming from the Tri Cities in NE Tenn. I need the best route from Winston to the SMith Center. BTW,,,the game is the Tech Heels game this saturday. thanks

40E; Exit on Hwy 54 toward Chapel Hill. Stop at the Friday Center, Park and Ride. They have shuttle buses to take you to the Dome. They have been free so far, but usually cost $5 per person. I suggest arriving at least 1.5 hours before game time just in case of traffic, parking, etc. At worst, you will arrive early and get to see the team warmup!

Good luck and Go Tar Heels!

Are you just coming for the game, or planning to see/do things around Chapel Hill? If you want to go the tourism route don't use the Friday Center, park at the Franklin Deck and walk to the Dean Dome. Don't forget to check out the museum. Otherwise, Friday Center is a good option.

Winston is about an hour and a half from the Dome. I'd park on Franklin and either walk or take the shuttle bus to the Dean Dome. The walk is probably 20 minutes.

Park at Bell Tower Parking deck. It is probably the closest free parking there and an easy 15-20 minute walk to the arena

Museum closes at 4pm or 3 hours prior to game. Great to see!

If you intend to eat on Franklin ST, I would not take the shuttle. If you arrive early enough you will find parking and can walk to the Dome. It is a bit of a hike though so wear comfortable shoes, lol!

Check out our sports bars app. If you are looking for a good sports bar, this app gives you several options near Chapel Hill.

Park behind Franklin St in one of the decks. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. I like the Carolina Coffee Shop but there are choices. The walk isn't bad, as was said earlier. Take the shuttle if it is raining or if the walk is a problem. As I said, it is at least a 20 minute walk and may be closer to 30 depending on your pace. The campus is really cool so I usually walk. And I often walk even if I have a parking pass.
