Comparisons: Sean May, Luke Maye

LOVE that Luke is coming ...................................... but somebody forgot how good-polished Sean was. No comparison.

While I believe Luke will be a very good player, and sooner than most people think, it's unreasonable to compare the two at this point. Sean's improvement while at UNC was impressive. Luke's perimeter game is far superior but he will have to go a ways to become as effective inside as Sean was.

I do believe Luke has proven he can play with the best and will be a steal in the long run. His toughness will be just what our team needs. I won't be a bit surprised if he usurps some of James' PT due to the fundamental soundness of his game. He has a high basketball IQ, another asset we sorely need.

One is a forward and one was a center...no comparison.
However, Archer nailed it...I do believe Luke has proven he can play with the best and will be a steal in the long run. His toughness will be just what our team needs.
I recall reading that he was one of the kids in high school that was not afraid to push Kennedy around, kid is smart and tough.

Wow. That's a stretch. Sean May was an impact player from the start and improved to be one of the best players in the country during our 2005 tournament run.

Luke Maye is more of the type of player you see at Davidson that drops 20 on us and the board lights up with "why can't we get guys like that". Well, we have one. He's not at the UNC talent level at this point and may be nothing more than a 4 year fan favorite. There is a reason we are UNC and Davidson gets guys like Maye. He will develop but our fans have little patience with waiting.

I was thinking along the same lines Coach

Again.... I did not write the article. However, I do believe that similarities exist. Having said that Sean obviously was more college ready when he was a high school senior. what Luke does in the next 2-3 years will show when it shows...

If you guys think that Luke Mate will be a game changer at UNC....

man never mind o_O

Luke Mate?? Did Roy finally recruit an Aussie?

Jokes aside, no one's saying he's going to be a game changer. He's a "glue-guy"/good team mate who may become more than that by his senior season.

Think Justin Watts or Mike Copeland with more upside and a better shooting touch. Every team needs them - just like Roy could have used 5-10 min of Des Hubert against Wisconsin when everyone was riding pine with fouls.

Who are you referring to when you say us? Not quite sure why you would take my comment personally. I made my comment based on this thread comparing Luke and Sean May. It's not even close.

Just asking you to show me where anyone said he would be a "game changer". Your words, not mine.

No no. It was no knock on you or thr article. the first thing I thought when Luke May committed was along the lines of what coach said. Most fans dont think he belongs at Carolina, but when a player from a smaller school drops 20 on Carolina we hear "why doesn't Roy recruit those type of players" I think Luke will be good.
