i have a computer that will turn on and run like normal at times. Occasionally it will turn on but the screen will be completely black. Anyone have a suggestion as to what may be the problem? Thanks in advance.

I would suggest the next time you get it to come on make sure you have all the important stuff backed up then go shopping for a new one

Go to Best Buy and get a new one. Have the purchase contingent on them transferring all your old info to the new one.

Is it a desktop with a separate monitor or a laptop? Either way, have you tried hooking up a different monitor? The intermittent nature of your issue makes it seem like it could be a bad connection of some sort, and a new monitor or new cable would be a lot cheaper than a new computer.

You might also check your power settings if it's a laptop. They might be set to turn off the display after a certain amount of time or when the computer enters sleep/hibernation. Sometimes with mine I have to open and close the lid twice before the screen wakes up.

You guys let me down. No mention of leaving the porn alone.

No offence OP, not blaming you for a thing.

More computer problems. Toshiba laptop owned for several years. I have forgotten the bios password any suggestions on how to reset or get around this? Thanks again

Quick Google search. Hope this helps

Reset BIOS Password
  1. Enter the BIOS password (case sensitive)
  2. Press F7 for Advanced Mode.
  3. Select the 'Security' tab and 'Setup Administrator Password'
  4. Enter and confirm your new password, or leave this blank.
  5. Select the 'Save & Exit' tab.
  6. Select 'Save Changes and Exit', then confirm when prompted

I will give it a shot tomorrow but I have a feeling it won’t work. I enter what I think the password was and after three attempts it turns the computer off. I have tried the so called trick of jumper or short circuit but no luck. Give it a try and continue to google it
Thanks

Press any key and that should work.

Life hack. Use the same password for everything. “Statesux” for example. If it asks for numbers or symbols just add “1” and “!” to it.
great advice. I'm thinking of making all my passwords 'Pissondook1!'. Would that be a good one?
