Condolences to our Wazzou friends

I love it. I am one of those strange types that pulls for two programs in all sports, UNC first but Tennessee after that because of family. Leach is my favorite coach in all of football.

I love Leach but dislike UT. I'll be forced to pull for UT if he goes there, and I don't like that.

Leach is a dick. What's to like?

My wife went to UT and we used to be big fans when they were good. Going to a game in Neyland is quite an experience. I will admit to willingly jumping on the UT bandwagon in the late 90s. But they suck now and my wife is a fair weather fan that couldn't care less about UT until they get good again. And if I'm bandwagoning, why would I continue to ride a shitty bandwagon?

I don't know who UT will hire but it appears there is no glory in the near future for the Vols. Not sure they'll ever return to the level they once were.

Thank you.

I get how fans gravitate towards quirky sports figures -- Mike Leach, Charles Barkley, Bill Walton, etc. -- but substance > style for me. Can't stand any of 'em.

Ouch. I'm a big fan of 2 of the guys you named. I think Barkley is a fairly thoughtful guy. He's prickly, but typically self-deprecating and doesn't take himself too seriously. I also like how he's not afraid to take stances on certain issues that are outside of what most expect of someone like him. Walton is a brilliant guy and very entertaining. Maybe I don't know all there is to know about him but I'm not familiar with stories of him being rude or what have you. Annoying to some? Sure, I can see that. But is he a dick?

I really like Barkley. I'd rather slide down a 30 ft razor blade naked into a pool of alcohol than listen to Walton. Don't really get into football so I can't judge Leach.

All he does is condescend to the play-by-play broadcaster in every game I've listened to him. Of course he is intelligent and successful, but he's the kind of guy who seems to enjoy rubbing other people's noses in it. When I watch a game, I want a color guy who talks strategy and Xs and Os. His job is to educate and inform viewers IMO. I don't need to hear a litany of personal anecdotes.

I get that. That's many people's feelings about him. And typically, I like for the color analyst to do as you say as well. But I don't know,...I've always liked Walton's weird ramblings. Games almost become secondary to me when he's calling a game, which is fine because he's usually doing west coast games that I have very little interest in.

Or non relevant non-sports related facts. I could care less how many gallons of water flow over a certain dam every minute.
