With the small numbers (relative to football) on college rosters, one particularly good recruiting class can portend things to come. Size (numbers), or even rankings, isn't as big as effectiveness and fit. I call them "core" classes.

Obviously, the Montross, Phelps, Sullivan, Reese group was a core class (even with Rozier's defection)... and a Natty came in their Jr year.
When Felton, McCants and May came in my first thought was: "That's a core class for a National Championship".
And they were (and fortunately Roy rescued them from Doh's clutches).
And I said the same thing when we signed the Berry, Jackson, Pinson trio.

Heck, you could go old school and say the same about Davis, Keuster and LaGarde, but injuries derailed it...
or more recently Psycho, Fraser, Green and Ginyard (once again, injuries were a factor, but the coming of Lawson and Ellington right behind them made up for it).
All these are groups that, blending in with key upper and/or under-classmen, can be very special.
Whether it's teaming with a George Lynch or Donald Williams in 93, or Jawad Williams and Jackie Manuel on '05... or hopefully Marcus Paige, Brice Johnson, Kennedy Meeks, et al this season, JB, JJ and TP are the kind of players who can give a team a shot at going from good to great. Love to see that be a year ahead of their predecessors

lol Gary, when I saw the heading I thought you had inside scoop about the players doing pilates and swiss ball exercises!

As for the topic, I had hoped Barnes, Marshall and Bullock were the same type of class - joining Henson and Zeller. Unfortunately Cretin stuffed that one!
