Cormac Ryan(Pre-Draft)

Note that he is significantly better off catch-and-shoot 3s than he is when dribbling into his own shot. He should fit well.

It may seem like a small thing to many but it is one of those things I believe in, I love that someone was feeding him the ball for those jumpers as opposed to he using a ball rack. I strongly believe that you should practice exactly what you do in games. I don't see ball racks on the playing floor when a game in being played. Another big thing with me is watching these kids shooting pre-game, most of the time their feet barely leave the court, how many jumpers do kids take in a game where their feet barely leave the court? You need to practice those jump shots with the same elevation you have to use in a game, same shot arch, same release point, same follow thru. That is how you build muscle memory that you can repeat in a game. I liked this Ryan video because I can see him replicating that corner jumper in a game exactly as he shot them in this video, Manek did the same thing. You should practice jump shots as if you had a defender challenging the shot because that is what you face in a real game. Why do it one way in practice or warm up AND DO SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT IN A REAL GAME, I prefer players not practice bad habits they already have.

Ryan is going to be an excellent addition. I love his form, consistency, quick release, and stamina! I know he is a leader and we might need that more than even the shooting!

Agree TP but I think there are 3 things about Ryan I really love! First I like his shot selection, have to realize he was circled by every opposing coach as a dangerous shooter that you can not give an open look to, yet he worked for solid looks rather than the heat check nonsense, LOVE his off the ball activity. Second, the kid is a fantastic cutter, very sharp strong cuts INTO a passing lane, you will not often see him standing around not looking to make something positive happen. And 3rd he plays with solid confidence and is early prepared for what he is going to do. Example, he isn't making a decision once the ball gets in his hands to shoot it or not, he has already made that decision before the ball gets to his hands (Manek like) he is already in to his shooting motion BEFORE the catch, there is no thinking about it when the ball hits his hands and that is SO IMPORTANT for a shooter!

And he turns 25 years old at the start of the basketball season. This will be his 6th year of college. UNC can't have had many players older than that.

Before anyone asks, Stilman White was still 24 years old when he finished his UNC playing career.

Agree 100%

It is exciting to think about how many different lineups we could employ! From huge to tiny; from outside in to inside out; we can matchup with anyone. I can't wait to start hearing the Summer pickup info because the sessions should be brutal! The guys we got in the portal are grown men so the oldsters better strap on the big boy shorts! (Not you Hans, don't hurt anyone, please!)

TP, I sincerely hope every player on this roster takes this off season VERY differently than they did last off season at UNC, as in not doing what caused Tyler (T-50) to storm off the court pissed that the players just were not playing hard enough to be taken seriously.

Yup. It is unbelievable that someone could see THans across the court and not bring his A Game! (self-preservation alone) I think the peeps returning + those we added are too proud to go out like punks! I think our toughness meter will spike just like skill, shooting, and team chemistry will!

Platek made them all at practice. Roy told me that.
forget practice. at n.dame in games against tough opposition ryan shot 41.6 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from deep and 81.9 percent from the free-throw line. he also stepped up his scoring in march, in crunch time. i believe he's an excellent acquisition for carolina!

I believe he's a good addition too. It was just a joke but one with a point. That point being, let's be careful and not get too excited about a guy making a bunch of unguarded 3 pointers in a practice video as we've seen that act before.

So this might be a silly question, but is there any chance that he stays in the draft based on his workout?
