Like everyone else here I'm still enjoying our Maui success. We defeated one of the fastest quality teams in the nation and the next day we beat one of the slowest quality teams in the nation.

To be precise (using Pomeroy's numbers) we beat the 3rd fastest good team and the 3rd slowest good team.

Code:
Team Rank Tempo Rank
BYU 61 2
Washington 71 7
OK State 51 10

Virginia 2 351
St. Mary's 13 350
Wisconsin 8 349

The versatility, toughness, and camaraderie of our team make us fun to watch! I think we still have a long way to go before we peak and this is a problem for the NCAA!

Indiana will have the next PG that will "test" our Nasty Dog and I expect him to pass again with flying colors!

who's their PG now? i assume not Yogi Ferrell? (No search capabilities atm)

Oops I don't pay attention to IU unless we are playing them. I thought Yogi was still there. Oh well they have some size and seem to be deep and athletic.

Our maturity and shooting should see us to another good win!

We're going into enemy territory. It will be an extremely hostile environment. A great test and experience for the team.

They have the very good Bryant in the middle (someone I hoped we would offer) and some supporting bigs. Bryant is a soph, so our experience should work for us but he could be a test. Not clear if he has enough help, though, so we should win the front court battle.

They have a number of guys who can shoot from deep. Blackmon is quite a scorer. He's just 1 of 4 guys who hit over 40% of their treys - all of whom are starters and 2 of whom got offers from Roy, iirc.

They start 3 juniors and 2 sophs. So good experience. But their bench is very young.

I like it when we can beat teams with players who spurned our scholarship offer. I like to show them they made a mistake.

We beat them last year in the NCAA playoff. So they may have something to prove.

They are also coming off a shocking loss, so Crean presumably has their full attention.

I hope our guys aren't too cocky going into this game. It's been known to happen.

College basketball fans know IU will be very tough to beat at home. Carolina fans should know both of Indiana's point guards......Robert Johnson, who Roy and staff wanted a great deal is their best point, but he shares time with Pitt transfer Josh Newkirk.

I will be pulling for our UNC TAR HEELS to whip that IU DONKEY.

!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TAR HEELS !!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the things Coach Williams likes to point out from time to time is that it is his teams will/tempo/game that must be imposed on the other team. So far this year that has played out well. We have dominated a good team that played slow and a good team that played fast because we simply played our game. IN may pose a new challenge in that this will be a true away game against a quality team looking to make a statement and maybe get some payback.
In their favor they are at home and will have a very good crowd. In our favor we have a seasoned team that has been in this scenario before. Usually in a high level game like this early in the year the PG, defense and team maturity will decide the outcome and I believe we are head and shoulders above IU in all 3 catagories .. jmho.

This and the game being played in Bloomington concerns me. Good test for the Heels.

If you looked at the schedule pre-season like I did you circled 2 games as statement games prior to ACC play, IU and Ky. This is a big time game in their house and that is never easy, forget about that upset they just took, they will not play us in their house that soft. They wrap Bryant and OG with a bunch of shooters and even if Blackmon can't play (which he likely will) we are still going to have our hands full.

We will need to hit them in the mouth early, going to need to really harass their back court, turn them over, and get out running. Wonder if Crean will try to run with us, he tried last time we played and it didn't work out for them and that was with Yogi and Troy Williams.

Hope Luke is available for this one, this is one of those games he may be able to drag his man outside with jumpers and open up our rebounding.

I also circled Wisky, but to the point:

D just mentioned one of the things I really love about our team. They start out hard and fast. Usually our teams start slow and build momentum, pulling away at the end of the half and game. This year we come out running and hit peeps right in the grill! We still make our signature runs, but, unlike the past, we are not often playing from behind.

I sincerely hope any team wants to run with us because I don't see this strategy going well for opponents!

Blackmon questionable? Maye still in the walking boot? Both teams at full personnel would be great for the teams and fans. If not, as said above, game is in Bloomingdales so it will be tough. Get a Heels "W" and I'll be a happy camper. Creen looks goofy but, for whatever reason, he gets the IU kids fired up for these type games, now Ft. Wayne....

Let the top two rebounders (Meeks & Bradley) in the country close to any live basketball? Let JBII run the court and our team, we'll be competitive.
Not that we might not lose a game here or there this season, we'd hope our guys would be well prepared. I'm sure Roy and staff will keep them humble and hungry to achieve their goals.

Blackmon was in warmups yesterday, still no word on if he'll play, will truly be 50/50. We'll play fast, likely turn it over a bunch, we'll shoot a bunch of 3s. Will be interesting. Crean usually gets IU up for these home games against ranked teams. Still think we turn it over too much to win.

LOL! (if it will help, I know about a team 8 miles down the road...)

Crean is hard to figure. He looks like a total bumpkin, but can really coach. Playing a well coached team at home is always tough, but I don't see them being able to deal with our post presence, our shooting, and our ball hogging perimeter D.

Tom Crean has been and always will be two things: 1). A good recruiter. 2). A good motivator. He is not a great coach..... never was! He gets by on talented players and rarely adjusts his style. The thing is though if you get talented players you can win a majority of the time despite being a poor Xs and Os coach!

All I know is it should be a game in the 80's for somebody at least. Could turn into one of those track meet games.

I hope it does become a track meet, not sure IUs guards can hold up, they couldn't in the NCAAT against us with Yogi and Troy leading them.

Beep beep IU, the coyote's after YOU...This ain't no cartoon...

Do Crean & staff teach much in the way of multiple defenses? Simply saying in the track meet mode, our guys still play defense and often pick up full court following makes...I'm hoping for biscuits!

Makes for better basketball than playing Wisky where 71 is high scoring

Well, we're going up against an angry team with revenge on their minds in as hostile a non-ACC environment one could ever imagine with a fan base that despises us for pilfering their local talent #EricMontross #SeanMay #TylerZeller.... should be fun :D

I don't think Crean is a poor Xs and Os coach. We run some good stuff. I think he struggles to adjust sometimes. He's not a great coach but not a horrible one either.

Much better coach than a lot of them out there, and a likeable guy for the most part.

We actually have hundreds of students that are camping outside of Assembly Hall right now, and the game doesn't start till 9:15 tomorrow. This is a big game for everyone up here. Playing UNC in November at home, is a big deal. Take that as a compliment.

And last night your team played like this was a big game and kudoes to them for it! IU last night showed us that they are deserving of being one of the handful of top teams in the country this season.

Yogi Ferrell and Troy Williams both declared for the NBA and went undrafted. Good thing for the Heels.

Troy declared for the draft early and Yogi was a senior. Both went undrafted but both are on the active rosters of NBA teams. Troy is getting over ten minutes a game for the Memphis Grizzles and scored 18 in one game. Yogi is playing for the Brooklyn Nets. He is playing about 15 minutes per game and averaging about five points and two assists. He has had a high point total of 14.
